The tone of his article reads more like he's mad at himself for being wrong, but still unwilling to walk back the animosity that his incorrect, verifiably false prejudices have stirred up in him. "He's innocent, but I hate him! Why do I hate him? Because! I HATE HIM! BECAUSE!"

There's also a hypocrisy element to it. These people -- leftoids, mostly -- think that they can do as they please, but you must be a good widdle boy, even to the point of allowing them to kill you. Otherwise, you must be seriously consequenced.
