The Eternals - marvel is trying it again this time less humor and hit music and more unnecessary love triangles

The dumbest part is he's saying that when it's just critics that are hating it, it's not general audiences who haven't seen the movie, so that tactic of "HURR DURR THE RACISTS HATE OUR MOVIE!" does not even work.
Apparently the POC critic average on RT is even lower than the white critic average (one guess why). This makes Nanjiani’s sputtering even funnier.

We could get down to a majority of critics not recommending the movie, Kweens.

Really interested to see the CinemaScore from audiences on this. If its actually boring, that is way worse than just being stupid.

The reason they were keeping the audience score hidden: they were busy fortifying it.

It does get buried but I think you could actually make woke circles hate the movie more if you point out the funny implications of race/gender swapping the Eternals when one big adaptation change is making them into alien robots. They aren't robots in the comics, it's a thing Marvel Studios actively chose to do on top of that.

The official "shitty Disney sequel RT Audience Score." Accept no substitutes.

So 86 score is their fortifying generic rating. When a movie sucks and they have to hide it.

Imagine thinking that nations like Saudi Arabia and Qatar should be as “progressive” as America. There is a reason why “ISLAM WAS RIGHT ABOUT WOMEN” was popular on the Internet at one point.

And you’re looking at the one poster that likes to mock the religion of Islam from time to time.
I feel bad for Jon Voight he's a red pill and based man. But his daughter good lord

I suppose this speaks to the shackles Disney has on everyone and the way celebrities are more like walking sales pamphlets than true individuals who somehow have the exact same brain and thoughts as whatever's bringing in the most clout and good feels for the queers (because it rarely if ever brings in cold hard cash). But when an old guard megastar like Jolie - and the biggest name in this film - can't candidly say "I'm the greatest thing in this movie; the rest of it sucked" (even if that in itself is a tactic to farm goodwill from the movie's detractors), we're in for a wild ride.

Hollywood is a business and that business wants to make money. But it's hilarious in current year how celebrities feel so minimized whilst upholding the façade of freedoms like speech - all for the worst quality films and series on their resumes. And maybe it's so bizarre to me because one would think that if the well and buying power of the cis white man was so deep, one of the studios would saddle up and target right for that crowd to suck off some of the crumbs Disney refuses to pay attention to.

This is tangential but it reminds me of the likes of Robert Pattinson (very openly abhorred the Twilight franchise) and Harrison Ford (the interview where he openly mocks the idea of someone like Chris Pratt ever being able to play Indiana Jones because he is Indiana Jones comes to mind). The former has clawed his way out from the drudges of 'cis, white man' hatred and jealousy and is now playing their beloved Batman at a point in his career where people have to admit the guy had talent. Meanwhile Harrison feels like one of the last actors in Hollywood with a historical, nostalgic, and beloved character that is entirely his own. (Two if you count him getting Solo killed.)

A genuine question because I'm wracking my brain over this: what is there to be gained from films like this for Hollywood? During the earlier Marvel days this would have felt much like the second Thor movie: they shit it out, cover it up with some one ply paper and move on to the better thing. Why sink in all these resources for a nothing flick with largely nothing names and a nothing story? Plus a nothing property to boot. If this was a bad X-Men movie, I'd understand, but no one gives a fuck about the Eternals. Why are they even making this film when they could have gotten all these actors for an X-Men movie anyway? (Unless that's not under Disney/Marvel; in which case ignore that last bit.)

I'm not at all surprised that a bunch of dweebs creaming themselves over "muh diversity," and "muh first gay kiss," and "Angelina Jolie in the MCU is EVERYTHING," would give this pile of stinky garbage high reviews. Marvel superfans seemingly refuse to criticize anything about the movies, unless a particular criticism is shared by the majority of other fans. And look, full disclosure, I like the Marvel movies. Prior to Endgame, I had seen almost all of them in theatres, and I get a kick out of them. They're nice, simple, good vs. evil stories that I don't have to think too hard about; I don't always want to watch like, David Lynch, you know? But I also agree with Scorsese that these are "theme park movies." The ultimate goal is to turn a huge profit, as opposed to making a great piece of art. At this point, liking movies is literally considered a form of making a political statement, and it's just bizarre. Nothing should be above criticism, no matter how many black people or gay kisses are shoved into it. Obviously, Eternals lovers are kind, compassionate, wonderful human beings, and Eternals critics are racist, homophobic scum, simple as

Jeez, and she's gone from Lara Croft to Mr. & Mrs. Smith to a whiny bitch. Wanted and Salt were the final films showcasing her looks. Everything afterwards is trash.

It's so nice these actors criticize arab countries for their homophobic views yet would turn tail when their chinese overlords do the same thing

I just got back from this, and I honestly liked it better than I anticipated. I'll probably write something longer after dinner, but here's my thoughts in a few sound bytes:

The good: the casting. With the exception of Robb Stark and Bottled Water, everyone delivered on what character they had, even if like George, it wasn't much.

The bad: the script. I don't know who (if anyone) had the last word on the shooting script, but that person needs to be fired. Too many characters, too many plot threads, not enough time to put it all together. It's a testament to the acting that I'm able to keep most of it straight.

The ugly: the CGI. It's better than Buffy, but not by much.
