Small correction here. Lynching's were the punishment for rape and so the punishment for ape. They succeeded in intimidating blacks into raping less, I'd say.

Threatening to shoot the leader of a political party has a bigger impact than, say, threatening to shoot your ex. There's the immediate impact on the individual, but beyond that, it has larger social implications because a bigger group of people is being intimidated out of exercising their natural rights as free people.

The government's sole purpose is to protect people's rights and it has a legitimate interest in making that job cheaper and more efficient.

They could've either:
1. stationed a shitton of government people all over the country so that minorities could feel safe running for office, voting, speaking their minds, etc
2. OR criminalize anyone weaponizing the already illegal crime of lynching (or any crime) against vulnerable populations

Hate crime laws have nothing directly to do with speech, but when they do touch on speech, it's specifically to protect speech.

Now a better argument against hate crime laws is that the fearful environment that existed during Jim Crow no longer exists. During Jim Crow, being afraid of being lynched for speaking one's mind absolutely used to be a legitimate fear, but I think nowadays it's kind of silly. No one born after 1990 has a good reason to fear it.

Though an interesting point by Null is that hate crimes against Jews has been rising recently. Though mostly by blacks.

Anyway, don't commit crimes and record yourself, that's exceptional in any context.

I ideologically disagree with the concept of hate crimes, but I also ideologically disagree with giving a shit about people who'd happily watch you burn if the situation was reversed.

only lesson you can learn from the jews is how to enter foreign societies, feign assimilation to lower their guard, then take advantage of that by engaging in gratuitous amounts of nepotism and in group preference to put your people ahead of the suckers who let their guard down.

That isn't really the case, though. Those were civil rights laws, specifically the one now codified at 18 U.S.C. § 241, which as subsequently modified by Congress provides:
If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or

If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

This is (part of) what used to be called the Klan Act, as it prohibited activities the Klan was engaged in, but you will note there is no language about the motivation of the person who does it, or even any special protection for the category of people it was, at the time, aimed at protecting.

Anyone who does this kind of thing to anyone is guilty of a crime, regardless of their motivation.

Hate crimes are an entirely different concept, and in uncivilized countries, actively criminalize things that wouldn't even be crimes without such statutes.

And in the United States, while they aren't as bad as that, they still enhance penalties solely because of the races of the victim and perpetrator. They're not supposed to, they're supposed to be based on bias motivation (and would still be bad even under that theory), but in actuality, they privilege those seen as minorities. Minorities can outright torture and murder a white person while yelling about how much they hate white people and prosecutors will refuse to prosecute it as a hate crime.
