I care about this trial because this is about as textbook a case of self-defense as you can get. Anyone who owns a firearm for self-defense has a dog in this fight whether they realize it or not. The way the prosecution is going, I just don't see that happening. They don't have shit and I think the jury is going to see that. I don't have much faith in the justice system but their case is just so poor that I can't see this ending as anything other than a full acquittal (at least on the murder charges) maybe found guilty on the misdemeanor gun charges.

It's a doomer perspective, I just don't see the state letting him go without a fight. Letting him off on the murder charges establishes once again that shooting a rioter trying to kill you is self defense; which flies in the face of everything the modern US government is trying to establish.

I don't know enough about the law to really comment on it, but I know people were talking about Chauvin getting off for Floyd would just mean Feds would wait outside the courthouse and arrest him on federal charges. I just figure the state would find some loophole to nail Rittenhouse if he got off the murder charges just to ensure the "right" verdict gets reached, in whatever court it takes.
