You'd think that, but realize that the rank and file of the movement aren't aiming to reduce everyones quality of life - They genuinely believe that they can just have everyone owning a Tesla or equivalent just by mandating it and everything will work out. And the elites don't actually have a vested interest in less vehicles, or even much to do with the environment - They have the wealth to be insulated from it, and actively lose from reduced consumerism.

I have been to many third world countries. I have seen people living happy lives in what is abject poverty compared to my life. What ever disparity a westerner like me has in these countries to the average person. The rich elites have a greater disparity with the average person walking through the streets of rich western countries.

They probably don't see much of a difference between the average person in a western country to that in a third world country. So reducing quality of life for westerners probably doesn't even appear visible. We're all the less fortunate. Dragging up the very bottom, pushing down the middle. It's all still poor people to them.

The moment weed is legalized federally, it will become both a state issue and be subject to federal regulation. The corruption part I learned from college professor I had from Cameroon. If you get a government job in most any African country, you HAVE to give as much as you can to your (extended) family as possible, otherwise you're basically telling them to fuck off. This goes for everyone from the lowest bureaucrat to the president.

The reason being is because Africa is extremely communal. As that same professor explained, African families do this to support each other so they can pool their resources so goods like food, clothing, and education are more plentiful than you'd think despite the poverty. Self-defense too, that's why they lynch so many rapists, murderers, etc. in Africa, the family (and related families in the same neighborhood) always watch each other's backs. The difference between African blacks and American blacks is the black family has been destroyed as a unit (and the black church is declining as well), so they can't really do this, thus suffer for it while their society retains the communal element that leads to massive amounts of corruption.

It would be either physically impossible or take some sort of hypothetical super materials to charge an electric car as fast as you can fill up a gas tank. And since most people don't drive their car enough that they can't recharge it every night, there's no incentive to improve the charging time.

The electric car thing is deliberately to screw with how mobile we are. In the era of the electric car, you'll never be able to take a real road trip again. So if you want to take a long trip at any reasonable pace, you'll have to either go with Amtrak (lol) or book a plane. Don't forget your two masks and vaccine passport!

Remember, The vast majority of environmentalists seem to operate on some weird inability to comprehend multi-level issues. They see a solar panel, don't see it giving off emissions, and conclude its a perfectly clean energy source. They see a nuclear power plant, and see it giving off a few kilograms of highly dangerous but easily controlled waste, and freak the fuck out. See this with environmentalists and the pipeline. They seem to believe if the oil isn't transported via a pipeline that the oil will just not be transported and used. So the oil keeps on being transported, just with less efficient means such as ship and rail that ends up creating even more pollution. Honestly find it a bit deranged that Republicans never tried making a big deal about fighting pollution by building the pipeline.

I think in this instance it's just a case of the elites not caring. For them, flyover country is exactly that. Flyover. All the trucks and cars going cross country regularly doesn't even click with them.
