I haven't been back to this thread in months and am surprised that luna is still alive. Had a morbid thought:

when she does die, would her head fit in a little kid coffin, or are they going to have to buy one for a bigger kid that is way longer than her body?

I also wonder if embalming fluid would fill up her head or if it would have to be closed casket bc her head would look like something in between a grape and a raisin. I know it can pump into normal blood vessels to plump up corpses, but I don't know if it would work in large resevoirs like her cysts. Have there been any imaging studies of the kids head?

I don’t think Robyn is so much into environmentalism as much as she is into all natural woo bullshit. But these types of people seem to be into the “home funeral” where the families wash, prepare, and dress the bodies at home and dig their own graves in a field or some shit. I have some knowledge in this area.

They make extra wide children's caskets now due to the increase in obese children. Batesville I know has a wood and a cloth version. I'm sure other manufacturers do too. If her head would not fit into a standard toddler casket, that could be an option.

Embalmers have many tools they can use to do reconstruction of facial and cranial injuries. While I've not heard of anyone dealing with anything close to Luna's situation, if for some reason her skull became depressed from lack of fluid pressure there are a lot of things they can do. From modeling wax to plastic/silicone prosthetics that can slide under the skin. Just like plastic eye caps that are put in to make the eyelids look right, Embalmers have an arsenal of tools. I've seen a case where almost half a face was reconstructed for a firefighter who died in the line of duty. You have to have someone with skill and experience, but it can be done. Reconstructive embalming is a true art. Often in the case of children, a funeral home will greatly discount their services or provide things at cost.

No matter what they do it won’t look pretty. I’ve been to a spud funeral where the limbs were contorted and twisted due to brain damage and the mortician just left the limbs as is. So in the casket his arms were twisted next to the body and it was a bit unsettling. I’ve also been to a shotgun suicide funeral where the head had to be completely reconstructed with wax. It did not look good and he had to wear a hat to hide that the embalmer couldn’t/wouldn’t reconstruct the back of the skull.

I imagine if they do a traditional funeral route the mortician will recommend a closed casket but narc mama won’t want that. I can tell they won’t be able to close her eyes since her head stretches the eyelids too much. Hopefully they will have the dignity to make some fake wax eyelids so the mourners won’t have to look at her glassy eyed corpse.

Also I imagine she will be autopsied, as most dead children are. So her brain will be already removed when it goes to the funeral home.

I also see this as the most likely route. Like Carly Lassly (of the Deathfat Baby thread), she will continue on with Luna as part of the family as if nothing changed. Carly brings the family to her stillborn miscarriage's grave regularly and she includes him in family conversations. This is the closest parallel I can think of for Luna and her family -- especially because of the whole empathic angle. Robyn's going to say she has a spiritual connection with Luna and she'll be "free" after death, using Robyn as a proxy to communicate. There will be an urn in the house and family members will have ash jewelry.

I know someone who lost their teenage son to a drunk driving accident. It severely fucked her up mentally. For years she acted like he was still alive and would post on social media that she talked to/went somewhere/ hung out with her son today. She’d post photos from when he was younger saying “yeah we went to the park today” like they were new photos, even though he was clearly a child in those pictures and he died at 19. She even went so far as to have him photoshopped into family pictures, so every year everyone gets older and he stays the same age.

Yes this is a psychosis attached to grief. It is very sad because it makes it so much harder to help someone through their grief when the psychosis truly makes them believe they are still alive.
