Efforts to identify approved drugs with in vitro activity against SARS-CoV-2 resulted in identification of antiviral sigma-1 receptor ligands, including antihistamines in the histamine-1 receptor binding class. We identified antihistamine candidates for repurposing by mining electronic health records of usage in population of more than 219,000 subjects tested for SARS-CoV-2. Usage of diphenhydramine, hydroxyzine and azelastine was associated with reduced incidence of SARS-CoV-2 positivity in subjects greater than age 61. We found diphenhydramine, hydroxyzine and azelastine to exhibit direct antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 in vitro. Although mechanisms by which specific antihistamines exert antiviral effects is not clear, hydroxyzine, and possibly azelastine, bind Angiotensin Converting Enzyme-2 (ACE2) and the sigma-1 receptor as off-targets. A thought on faking proofs of injection cards to stay employed: if biannual injections are to become mandatory, employers might be forced to request biannual proofs too, to ensure your compliance.

If that were to pass, it might be wise to stick to faking or copying cards that you will have access to in the future so you don't have to explain why your initial injection lot numbers changed all of a sudden.

Nonetheless the hospitals are legit verging on total breakdown due to a combination of massive staff shortages and a huge increase in demand, for some reason lots of people need acute hospital care for non coof related issues. For example over the weekend there was one paramedic ambulance available to cover the entire west of Melbourne, which has a population of over 2 million. They're letting non trained transport ambulances, a glorified bus service, carry sick people into hospital.

There is a MASSIVE staff shortage all over the country, even in places that don't have vaccine mandates.

Right now the issue is being ignored by the government and most of the media. It's very Australian to totally ignore even massive problems when you think you've moved on. Our politicians are in the back slapping phase right now but that won't last. Good news is I reckon they'll have no choice but to drop the mandates soon.
