Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Has anyone brought up the original Consomer.

90s Rappers with way to much fucking bling?
Hip hops obsession with brands and logos was started by a guy called Dapper Dan who used to make bootleg designer clothes back in the early 80’s. That’s where the proto-hypebeast style of logos distastefully blasted over everything come from. He was actually pretty innovative for his time, he made all his own fake designer fabrics and invented a new way of screen printing on leather. Gucci even made replicas of his designs 35 years after he started ripping off their prints.

One man’s artistic vision created legions of mindless consoomers.

I don't know if somebody linked this video earlier in the thread and cursed my YouTube recs, or just an almost identical video, because there seem to be about 9 million accounts making the same content.
You can't convince me that this lady didn't throw half this stuff straight into the trash after filming. The rest will definitely go in a hefty bag before January 1st.

Half of this stuff probably fell apart a couple of hours after filming. Christmas is a nightmare of DIY stuff that people hope to resell or recycle as gifts to save/earn money, which is almost never the case because DIY decor is usually tacky, clumsy and in poor taste.

DIY is also another field massively plagued by consoomerism tho. Combined with Christmas plus decor and/or skincare it becomes a nuclear bomb.

Good lord, this is all such crap.
Fake. Fake. It's all fake. All is simulacrum.
They aren't using these things as replacements for something nice, they think this IS the something nice.
Dollar Tree too GenX-y? Don't worry, the millinizooms have you covered with Amazon finds!

Thanks to the above, the YouTube algorithm introduced me to this person. Enjoy:

She keeps saying "I want to be that girl." which makes me think she's trying to be ironic, but like, you still bought all this crap. You're still showing off all this crap. You're still making money and getting subscribers off this crap.

There's probably a poor family struggling with the current economy right now who could've used all that stuff. Kind of makes my blood boil that it's being used for clout and stupid youtube videos.

The part where she cuts up a book to make that awful garland for the tacky tree centerpiece made me moti

Wasn't sure where to put this but it did feel consoomerist.
Those phone covers look really uncomfortable to use. But why I clicked on this was mainly for these "storytimes" - they always feel fake. The girl did explain that the story isn't hers, but still.

For the first story, I don't know anything about the judical system apart from surface level stuff, but I highly doubt that the dad's girlfriend can bail him out that easily if factors like being charged for sexual assault and multiple witnesses who heard the girl screaming. How would the girlfriend be able to claim that the girl made up the assault if one of the witnesses literally called the cops when she saw what was happening?

For the second and third story, christ. The second story is too stupid for me to comment on. As for the third story, the uploader forgot to upload part 4, but from what is given to us, it's absolutely mind-boggling. The girl claims the man forced her into a wedding dress and forced her to marry him. This is absolutely retarded. You weren't "forced" to marry him, you chose to marry him. That's not how marriage works - someone can't force you to marry them unless you live in the fucking middle east.
