This trial is such a shitshow. Kyle's actions were the absolute dictionary definition of self-defense, he never took a single shot that wasn't directly related to defending himself from a very immediate lethal threat. He tried to turn himself in immediately after he got clear of the mob.
And all this was captured on camera by multiple people. Witnesses now confirm what we could see in the footage by giving us additional context that makes it even more clear that Kyle was attacked and defended himself.
And the prosecution is doing some insanely slimy shit, the likes of which you'd expect in a shitty Hollywood movie. They literally attempt every dirty trick, every shady maneuver, every questionable tactic. Everything to get dirt on Kyle, to make witnesses look untrustworthy or to mop up the mess they got themselves into when these shitty actions blow up in their face.
It reminds me of the movie "Sleepers" and the trial scene, where Brad Pitt calls witnesses that he set up so the other side could make them crack, break down and exculpate his friends. Only in that movie, it was Brad Pitt deliberately sabotaging the case to protect his friends.
I bet these prosecution twats thought they could sleepwalk their way to an easy guilty verdict, that'll go down on autopilot based on how heated the entire situation is (especially given how that Chauvin case panned out). It seems they wanted to use Kyle as a stepping stone on their way towards some political career and they thought they could easily dunk on him based on how the media has already treated him as a vile murderer for over a year. Well, shit sucks. This thing is not just exploding in their stupid faces, they manage to look like utter tools, slimy douchebags and incompetent morons in the process. One can only hope that this shit will end each and every ambition these mongoloids ever had - not cause they are prosecuting Kyle, but for how they prosecute him, how they lead their case, how they treat witnesses and how utterly clueless they are in court.
All that being said:
I didn't pay much attention to the whole gun-charge thing. I thought Kyle was legally allowed to own and carry that firearm, now it seems that (misdemeanor) is the only thing that might stick? Anyone care to clue me in, since it's hard to keep track of that thing in a ~400 pages thread.
Also, how does this work, can the judge overrule the jury if they make an unreasonable verdict, for instance, when they deem Kyle guilty of murder despite every piece of evidence, every piece of footage and every statement by a witness says otherwise, can the judge go "fuck that shit, I acquit"?
