Went to the 7-11 on the way back from walking this morning. Once again, no sign telling us to wear a mask. We both had masks but didn't put them on. Second time this week didn't need to put on a mask. Wonder if the city isn't enforcing the county's mask mandate. 7-11 is right across the street from the city hall/police&fire station complex so you'd think the police would be right over to enforce the mandate. Yesterday went to Walmart without wearing a mask.
Thursday is "donut day", where we go by the donut shop and get a donut. Interesting to see if we'll need masks.

No, there's been no shared sacrifice. No pulling together - as always, "us" and "them". The national level of anger has never been higher, and most people have lost all faith and trust in government/media/judiciary/law enforcement at ANY level. The societal damage caused by the Chinese Flu far exceeds the medical damage, if you will. And the societal damage is not likely to ever be fully repaired.

My supervisor was telling everyone that if you had proof of vaccination and showed HR, you'd be given a card and allowed to not wear a mask at work. I asked:
"Just how vaccinated do you have to be to receive the card?"
and
"Does the card expire after the government begins demanding more booster shots?"
His answers were one dose unless you had Johnson and Johnson which needed a booster shot and I don't think so. It was clear though that he wasn't prepared to answer those questions as he stuttered a bit before telling me he got vaccinated to 'protect himself' and how he 'read up on the vaccine and COVID before doing so.' He did end the conversation though with 'I know everyone has their own opinions. You do what you think is best for you.' He's not a bad guy by any stretch but this 'just relaying the message' thing is unnerving. There's just this tension in the air as people walk on eggshells around the matter.

It's quite clear that some workplaces are preemptively forcing workers to sign onto infinite boosters "as required by the government", or else they'll be considered unvaxxed.
So yeah, expect this to be the case if they decide to go all in on the boosters.

Random article, because Federal judge overrules Texas ban on mask mandates in schools. Now would not say good or bad per say. The thing is every thing has been fought a little to late.

No info on my side outside papers are being written up from what was told, you would think they would avoid no radio silence out side of stupid pop ups. I know there are stragglers based on location availably, but it is lame not to give some word of warning. I did realize looking at the calendar fully vaxxed the 22th may be a thing because 19th is a Friday (should pay better attention to the calendar). Maybe between then that will hit off. I know with exemptions and stuff if it doesn't quietly end I know coworkers may have helped create the rules so your corporation wont have too. They have the medical down pat and are working with how to deal with the religious.
If the courts are as reliable as expected hope you don't have to partake in these fun times if you have concern.

This just in from my son's school here in a semirural part of New Zealand. Half of my son's teachers don't have a job on Monday. One school in the area is closed until further notice because all of the teachers walked. One up the road from my son's has lost six teachers.
I'm furious, upset, and absolutely appalled. The teachers and us parents were all crying on pick up about an hour ago. The remaining teachers have no idea what is going to happen from here on out with an insufficient roster to care for the currently enrolled children. My partner was pretty cunty about it and said they all deserve to lose their jobs for not believing in science. I have one friend to talk to about this IRL and I had a good rant/cry on the phone with her because this is psychologically horrifying for me.
Fuck this government. FUCK Jacinda. Fuck everything about this. This is why I chose to change my career last year to be a remote software developer because I fucking knew this was coming.
This has cemented my stance to reject being vaccinated.
Update for those who remember my partners family bullying me into being vaccinated to spend Christmas with them: Air New Zealand has mandated that on the 14th of December, no unvaccinated passengers are allowed on board for domestic flights. We are booked to leave on the 20th. I will be having an uncomfortable conversation with my partner and his family about not going there.
Edit: Turns out that so far I can opt to show a negative COVID test instead of a vaccination certificate. I'm safe for now.

I lied to somebody, and told them I was vaccinated, I anticipated the question, and decided, in this case, that I wanted to take the path of least resistance. They predictably asked "What did you get?" and immediately followed with "I'm excited for my booster" I said "J&J, one and done baby!" hamming it up. They followed up with "That's what they give to homeless people."
I thought it was just twitter that these types existed, but I know some in real life now. You can't make this shit up.

I know a guy who had his second shot also around May, I guess, or maybe June or something? Last week he had a suspected heart attack and now a defect in his heart wall, might need a bypass. Granted, he's in his fifties and not the fittest guy on Earth, but he's not a fatty, not a smoker, and I don't think he had heart problems before.
