Guys, now that there's a new thread I have to admit something: I love Philburt.
He's so self obsessed, anyone else would have thoughts and opinions on the world that might create dissonance. They'd be affected by things outside their door. Not Phillip. He's incapable of processing anything that doesn't relate to him, so he doesn't know anything to make you feel intellectually threatened; he's in a sexless marriage with his horse wife so you don't have to feel insecure that you don't get laid; he's a hermit so you don't have to feel bad that you have no friends; he's practically geriatric at 40 so you never feel physically intimidated; no matter how much he makes he spends every cent on mobile games/takeout/gin so you don't have to feel bad that you're broke...
In a world where change only ever accelerates, Philburt's static being is like an aberration of nature, a singularity floating unnoticed by the public in a crusty office of a house in a gated community in Washington. Like Mr. Roger's neighborhood you can always return and things will be no different than when you left them, the denizens always ready to welcome you back and tell you about how there was clearly nothing they could do and it would be great if we could hit the tips goals because they have some really big bills coming up.
