I was curious and opened one of these videos in an incognito window: there's an unskippable 15 second ad at the beginning, and another one at end.

This might be irrelevant, but what are the odds that he's shitting these out every day now as a way to "recoup" some of his supposed lost ad revenue (while still bitching about not making any money on ads literally every ten minutes)? 🤔

I mean the video is like six minutes long and is basically another worthless prestream which he can do in his sleep now. You would think for a short, informative type of video it would be detrimental to put ads there (assuming he has control over ad placement, cause I sure as fuck wouldn't wait on a 15 second unskippable ad for a short ass video).
That's more forethought than I normally care to ascribe to the likes of Phil, however, this is a different case because it's an instance of him being a lazy sleazebag, which is the only thing that ever motivates him to put even the tiniest bit of brainpower into.

I call it sleazy because he's Phil. We all know he has no intention of ever being honest about why he does anything, including such worthless videos that he chooses to monetize. Most business-minded people observe some bit of tact, which Phil is too childish to find important. He therefore makes everything he touches sleazy.

Am I wrong in thinking that Phil most definitely chose to tack on not one, but two 15 second unskippable ads on his video? I didn't think that YouTubers had much control over what ads were shown, nor really where the ads are placed, but I've been reading some things that suggest otherwise.

If Phil actually chose that ad format and in those places, then the greed is getting ever stronger!

Lol @ PP thinking that the silent majority love him enough to watch a full minute of ads. Maybe the first one if it's unskippable, but no way would anyone bother sitting through the one at the end.

We absolutely have control over if the ad is skippable or not, though I don't think we get control of how many are placed pre video (though we do get control of placement during a video).

For full disclosure here's the monetization screen on one of my videos (I normally leave "During the video (mid-roll)" ads unchecked but I wanted to check it to show you that there's a management link for placement of ads.

Going through the trouble to make and upload a video just to penny-pinch a couple dollars isn't the Pig's style. Could be any number of other things though. Maybe he recognizes he's not gaining any new whales and is trying to increase engagement with his channel in the hopes of drawing new viewers in. In this respect, the "update" videos are doing much better views-wise than his actual gameplay footage. He's still delusional AF if he thinks this will work.

Even if he didn't have that delusion going for him, which he does, Phil lacks the ability to give a shit about what others like anyway. He always expects people's personalities to align with what he wants, and chimps out when that doesn't happen.

And I don't think Phil has any kind of plan for drawing new people in, it's just something he wants, and not even out of self-preservation. He very much assumes that he'll never lose idiots like OIC, ever, and so his desire for the masses to change their mind about him is entirely an emotional one.

It's going to take the loss of his six figure income for Phil to finally feel like he needs to save himself, and either actually do something, or just give up and accept the inevitable. As bad as things are, they still haven't gone past a level that Phil isn't used to, and so he isn't budging. Not yet.

The editor is where you can do ad breaks if you don't want YouTube to automatically do it. Real content creators on long playthroughs do it so ads don't break immersion or action sequences. Takes effort.

From my experience, mid-roll ads don't seem to generate any noticeable income. I'd guess people either have ad blockers or stop watching when a mid-roll appears. I do.

checking in as stream is about to start, will the viewbots be back today? i'm gonna keep watch this time

I estimated ~300 viewbots yesterday just based on how many viewers he typically gets in major event streams, which usually peaks at ~700 near the start and falters to ~300 near the middle/end. ~1050 was his peak on the previous stream, so if we assume the viewbots make up the bulk of the difference, that would be around 300, but I'd be willing to go as low as 200 if we're being generous.

DSP stressing how much of a good guy he is for leaving licensed music on and sacrificing his pitiful ad revenue for da fanz, while also threatening to turn it off in the same sentence will never not be funny.
Phil using his Italian heritage to shake down his paypigs.

"Sure is some nice music in this game, be a shame if someone muted it. Permanently."

imagine being a matchur adult and needing to be the kewl loner who goes against the popular opinion so much that you unironically tweet something this stupid...

I stole it from totally not another josh poem twitter account.

like I....he's said some really stupid things but this might be the one if not top 3. Nothing in this tweet makes any sense, it's like word salad.
