Inactive Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka - Deadbeat (emphasis on "Dead") founder of Something Awful, forced out of his own community, on his second divorce, stuck his dick in crazy, "Birth Giver"

I donated to the GFY for his girls. I mourned Lowtax yesterday after hearing the news here. I felt like I did when Prince died and everyone was telling each other the news on the street, even though they were perfect strangers. I wasn’t a big Prince fan and yet it was saddening. I’ll probably say something for Lowtax tonight as well.

I read once that a parent who kills themselves leaves behind a curse on their kids. The curse goes “I have killed myself, and one day you may wish to do the same. By my act, you have my permission.” I hope his girls are OK, especially the oldest, who iirc is a teenager. It would be easy for a teenage girl whose lolcow dad killed himself to consider doing the same.

On the one hand I think Lowtax was funny, but clearly on a long slide. I didn’t know the dramu about his family though, just the slap fight between him and Shmorky.

At least, watching this play out reminds me that suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems. Nobody should an hero.

The difference between the guy who commits suicide as his last act of abuse towards his ex partners and his children, and your textbook family annihilator, is quite simply whether or not the ex partners have managed to get away and keep the kids away too.

Acts of family annihilation are, in the main, committed on contact/custody time after the family unit has broken down.

He didn't neck himself because he was sad that he had driven off two families with abuse. He necked himself because the court finally ordered him to face material consequences for his actions. And he was angry but powerless, because his families are long since safely gone from him, so he did the one thing left in his power to try and hurt and punish them.

The revenge suicide isn't actually all that uncommon a phenomenon.
That is because child support laws are dumb and spiteful to begin with. They made sense in an era where women didn't work. Now they just an easy out for worthless women. Granted, from what people are saying that may be poetic justice here. I don't fucking know. I do know that acting like waymens are innocent victims in these situations makes you a fucking retard

So, about Lowtax intentionally burning his money to keep it out of his children's hands: do we know around when it started? Is there any way to tell it apart from his preexisting stupid addictions? I'm wondering just what he considered "kicking it into high gear". The hookers maybe?

Holy shit, good fucking riddance. I almost forgot what a piece of shit he was IRL to his family when he wasn't busy destroying his own online community. His mother is a ripe piece of shit too for blaming his abuse victim for managing to get away from him and keep her children safe from his proven and documented degenerate shenanigans.

As I have thought it over the last few days, I think what has me more shocked isn't the death itself but just how non-eventful it was. I always thought if Rich killed himself it would be a publicized saga for weeks until he finally did it on a livestream when he was in the midst of a full blown nuclear meltdown.

Instead it just came out of nowhere. We all knew the state of his life made it extremely possible that he was going to eventually do it. But no build up. No attention grabbing. Just one day we finally heard the news he did it.

That's the difference between an attention seeking faggot (aka Jake Alley) and someone who actually wants to kill themselves. The attention seeking faggot will post and cry on social media for asspats and the other just does it.

Yep. At most he would have had a half-assed overdose he could spring back from once the attention rolled in.

Going Scanners-esque so abruptly is a sign he really fucking meant it.

Well, RIP this thread I guess :(

The forum-ousting, Bogan, divorce, forum sale and downward spiral Sagas the last two years is the funniest Lowtax have been in 15 years.
Do not fear friend, we have a whole world of Kyanka to take up Lowtax's mantle. From Ex-Wifes, crazy ex girlfriends, and even a surprise visit from one of his kids in a few years,.

Well what's most surprising to me is that Lowtax pulled a Kurt Cobain.

There are, like, more noninvasive ways to kill yourself. What's iron sulfide and hydrochloric acid in an enclosed room do

Not really surprised it ended this way. I think what upsets people is that he squandered so much, yet played the victim the entire time. Despite desperately trying to come off as a happy-go-lucky goofball, he couldn't hide his bitter and thoroughly unlikeable personality. He threw everyone under the bus and never accepted responsibility for his choices or lack thereof. The forums were broken for a week? Well it's the users' fault for not personally notifying him of the problem (he angrily blamed goons for not knowing they should email at him at his lowtax account). It's radium's fault, it's USPS's fault, it's the state of Missouri's fault, etc etc. He couldn't hide his rage if anyone even hinted that he might have done something wrong.

Even when goons and kiwis told him maybe he should shut up about his marital issues and impending divorce, he insisted that everyone else was *not a lawyer* and it was perfectly fine for him to shit talk because of VINDICATION. And he would show everyone how he was right and they were idiots.

He was an entitled, whiny asshole who hadn't contributed anything of value in decades. I'm sure he didn't come to any realization of self-awareness before offing himself, but instead just realized there was no one left to blame.
