(Usually. Sometimes they're their own separate race from humans, it depends on what you're playing/who you're playing with.) Tieflings are tall and tend to have red/purple skin tones. Sage was turned into an elf because she's very magic-oriented and her redesign has a more nature-y vibe, and Thyme's now some sort of faun-like creature with deer ears and antlers just because she wanted to do something different.

Figured I'd mention it here had this dream involving the HGS girls fighting the bad guy (who was pretty much Akio Ohtori from Revolutionary Girl Utena but as a straight white original character donut steal) in which after a battle the girls used their "muh friendship" powers to corner him in the classroom where the trans professor defeated him by magically tossing him into an actual garbage can, and the day was saved. And the writers were super proud of that decision because it was the most "kid-friendly" way to defeat a villain while symbolically reminding the audience he was a piece of trash and much lulz was had from all who witnessed it.

I otherwise don't remember much of the dream although there were girls in cryogenic containers being stolen by said-bad guy. I dunno, didn't sleep all that well I guess, but I just had to mention it because I can almost believe it to be a legit thing that happens.

The weirdo that everyone spurns for right reasons and is thought to be evil/bad when in reality they are normal like everyone but they aren't given a chance by evil society. I guess that's one reason why so many of them make Tiefling rogues and suck up to witches and warlocks while haiting clerics and paladins in D&D. Very autistic tbh since i had to deal with one such person several times.

But at the same time remember these people project their own percieved prejudices on other characters. They see orcs being violent and bloodthirsty? Must be the creators wanting to shit on black people... Do you see lithe, delicate and beautiful men? All of them must be fags. They project very hard and then blame others for their own stupidity.

I also was surprised when i found out they originally were meant to be big scary horde armies from central asian. Which is weird because most times orcs have been depicted their buildings don't have the signature architecture of central asia, as well as most of the time not having horse archers nor heavy use of cavalry. A missed opportunity tbh.

Even well after industrial revolution they still held the same opinion and didn't kvetch at the slaughter during WWI except for their own upper class brethren.

But tbh, lately most fantasy creations are very hugboxy: there is no tension, rivalry or cultural differences between different races. And i'm not talking about the usual "dwarves vs elves" thing. You should expect that thoughout history and culture tension appeared and grudges are held by everyone against others. Everyone holds hands and there isn't friction between people and they don't bring up traditions or mock others for old cultural customs. It's really boring.

I heard that they were actually a representation of how war can twist even the greatest of men into bloodthirsty monsters. It makes sense, since Tolkein explicitly stated that Orcs are literally just corrupted elves.

Though he did definitely take inspiration from the Mongols and Huns in terms of Orc culture, albeit very loosely. There's also an argument that he took some inspiration from the Prussians as well since they were a very warlike, conquering, military focused people. Tolkein never really limited himself when it came to inspiration and pulled from a bunch of different groups and concepts to create the races and cultures found in his books. It's really fascinating, honestly.

Doesn't even need to be friction or any antagonism. Like you say, cultures are very different and that can be a starting point for the conflict of a good story.

Thing is, for that you need to be creative and have the skill to craft a good narrative that it's interesting. That is the problem here: these people can only write qbout gay shit and romance. And that's not a plot for fantasy, that's the subplot and the characterisation. At least try to make it some quest to find the magic to change yyour sex, but nah, you need effort for that.
