He atleast said that alot of it was free or super cheap because people wanted to help.
also its not kyles money and raising another million would not have been a big problem.
so why didnt they have their own experts for all small parts of the Trial? ohh right, because one half of the defense team is lazy and bad at his Job.
If they win it will be because the case is sooo clear and because agent 47 is good in Cross and not because they did a good job.
Yeah, its not cheap or free. Did you not hear what Black said during cross he charges an hour to testify? Anywhere from $150 to $500/hr and he was charging Kyle $350 an hour. Trial prep isn't for free for experts, either. Lawyers charge in 15 minutes increments, so even a phone call eats away at a retainer pretty fast. That's phone calls to you, your experts and anyone else related to the case. Paralegals have to be paid and while not as expensive as lawyers they are not cheap, or free. They have to interview witnesses and keep records, private investigators also, who also may have to testify.
I imagine Black gave Kyle a discount, so there's the extent of your freebies right there. The entities that do jury panel mockups are insanely expensive. Printers may sympathize with you but all those copies to the court and opposing counsel get expensive, as well as the courier service to verify they were delivered (and if they have to testify in court? bam, more money). Process servers are expensive, again if they testify its more money. Court reporters are the ones that provide the actual trial transcripts and they're independent of the court; those are also insanely expensive, and I yet have to meet one that does it for free. All your evidence has to be copied, often several times; photographs, videos, witness statements, etc and that's expensive as well.
There's a lot of work that goes into trial prep, which is why most lawyers advise against going to trial, in civil and criminal cases, because its expensive and time consuming. I get that there's people that would donate but I doubt it would cover everything.
edit: I didn't add travel expensive for expert witnesses, which can also be expensive; airfare, carfare, hotel and meals which again, would not be free.
