I remember my one and only time on a jury and we got let go within 3 hours of the trial starting because during a break we put a complaint in with the quality of the video of the victim talking about what had happened to them, the audio was awful and video quality its self wasn't good either but ok, the judge agreed and then said we were no longer needed as the prosecution dropped the case? I can't remember because I was shocked we were getting off on jury just like that.Having served on a jury in a criminal case which returned a guilty verdict, I can tell you that handing down an actual guilty verdict is a much heavier decision than answering a poll. And the crime we convicted the defendant of probably didn't even get him any prison time.
The prosecutor in that case was a scumbag too, I was looking for any excuse to acquit the guy but unfortunately he was just guilty.
It shocked all of us because we thought we would at least get a transcript of it, but nope. What's even more retarded is in the opening statement the prosecution said the defendant had turned themselves in for the supposed crime and admitted to it but then changed their mind and was now is pleading not guilty.
The judge thanked us for being excellent jurors. All of my what that day.
