Nicholas Gabor Gyeney is known for being a creator of several C-list films, as well as for his sexual deviancy and smear campaigns. Presenting himself as a millionaire auteur (but actually perpetually unemployed and funded by his multimillionaire Hungarian trader mum Ilona) he tells women he’ll catapult them to the top, in exchange for letting him larp as Harvey Weinstein. He threatens them with their careers, legal action, rape, and smear campaigns. People who leave negative reviews for his films receive legal threats over Facebook and boasts of “achieving more than 40 year old filmmakers”. He also was found guilty of beating his ex, but that’s only because she was bitter over from how rich, famous, smart, and successful he is.
Nicholas Gyeney - Rapist Producer.jpg
The producers of his biggest film sued him for defrauding them out of their life savings and now he owes them several million. His films are SyFy grade rip-offs with blacklisted has-beens like Edward Furlong and Margot Kidder. Backed by mum and his assistants Edi Zanidache & Edward Michael Scott, you’ll find inflated IMDb scores and nearly identical reviews from 1-time accounts, and a suppression campaign against any bits of this information. Nicholas and his friends threaten places that mention his scandals and petition courts to overrule the fraud lawsuits and to seal his criminal records.

“The Penitent Man” – At 23, I’ve accomplished more than anyone has at 40… or Isaac Asimov
Gyeney’s directorial debut came in 2010, when he was 23 (get used to that number). It’s the story of a time traveler sitting on a park bench like Forrest Gump, telling people about the secrets of the universe. At the film’s premiere at SIFF, Gyeney walked on stage and said something like “This film is not for everyone… It is for the few… It is for the special”.

After the premiere, critics and viewers posted their thoughts and were met with Facebook messages from Gyeney, saying how rich, famous, and successful is, how bitter and jealous they are, and how he would legally destroy them. On review pages, the comments written by Nicholas, his assistants, and his mum are rich…

He’s been using “disgruntled” and “bitter” as an excuse from the get-go.
Nicholas Gyeney - Fake Reviews 3.jpg

A bit specific for a casual onlooker to discuss the legal intricacies and names of people who have written poor reviews… especially since Mark Rahner sued him for not paying $2,000 for publicity work on The Penitent Man he did for him (Case No: 106-00770 in King District Court). To this day, he’s yet to be reimbursed.

And, professional reviewers and viewers are just jealous and bitter over how rich and successful he is.

“Matt’s Chance” – I just want to talk to her. I just want to talk to her. I just want to beat her. I just want to talk to her.
In May 2011, Gyeney was dating aspiring model Kate Strang, who he beat, leaving bruises for the cops to photograph and document for legal purposes. On May 6th, she secured a restraining order against him. He violated his restraining order repeatedly and counter-sued Kate within a matter of days. The judge sided with Kate and granted an extended restraining order on May 20th. Gyeney filed to have the court records sealed in April 2019, which was denied.
Kate Strang Court Case.png

He then wrote a movie called Matt’s Chance. With fellow woman-beating predator Edward Furlong, it tells the story of a great man who is cheated on by his girlfriend. The entire movie is Edward Furlong deliberating with people about killing her. In the end, God tells Edward Furlong to kill her. A nice highlight is where Furlong threatens to rape a pregnant prostitute and cut her fetus out.
Nicholas Gyeney - Fake Reviews 10.jpg

A 1-time account with the unique spelling of “Kevon”… like the financier he fucked over. While you’re there, take a peek at the other disposable reviewers: actormarks-253-270785, kevon-130-894518, allison-610-776161, mr_lee-78130, rpietras-752-423966, MaximoN-740-149869. Notice a pattern? This is a common tactic by unsuccessful filmmakers to hire a group to create fake reviews to boost their ratings. They also all end with telling readers to look out for Gyeney because he is so young and talented.

This was also the point where word started to spread about Gyeney’s tendency to not pay anyone except himself for work. There is legally no such thing as an “internship” with filmmaking, meaning what he is doing is illegal.
Matt's Chance.jpg

And, Kate is just jealous and bitter over how rich and successful he is.

“Second Nature” – ‘Lil Weinstein
Gyeney was a supervising producer on a film called Second Nature in 2015. It was filmed on location in Ellensburg, meaning the crew had to share rooms at a Super 8. Gyeney took a special interest in a crew member who he attempted to seduce with the promise of rocketing her to the top. After rejection, he assaulted her in the motel parking lot, forcing her to fight him off. He began threatening her with texts about getting into her room that he paid for, since American law is that if you book a motel room you’re entitled to rape whoever’s inside. He and Edi Zanidache mounted an aggressive smear campaign against the crew member, saying her career was finished.

Gyeney also took the liberty of providing private transportation for lead Collette Wolfe. She refused to continue working on the film until Gyeney would be removed from the set for the remainder of her scenes. The film turned out to be an ironic & hammy commentary on the everyday harassment women experience… with an actual cameo from Gyeney as a construction worker who sexually harasses the star.

When the Weinstein Effect came into full swing, Seattle activist Keaton Slansky posted an account of working with Gyeney (archive). He went into detail about other women who had gotten wind of the scandal and approached him with their own stories.

Exposé said:
In solidarity with all women who have shared their stories over the last few weeks (and those who haven’t) and from the inspiring, heartbreaking momentum from the MeToo campaign I’ve decided to speak up regarding a toxic, abusive presence in our local Seattle Film Industry. I personally know and have spoken with several survivors of his abuse and assault and for reasons of security and career protection we’ve agreed it’s best that I be the voice to call this person out.

Nicholas (or as I and everyone else knows him, Nick) Gyeney is a local Producer, Writer and Director. He is an abusive, aggressive, misogynistic monster who has a pattern of abuse, intimidation and manipulation that stretches back years and it’s time for that to end.

CW: Sexual assault, abuse, trauma.

The first and only time I worked with Nick was in 2015 on a feature film that I was the 2nd Assistant Director on, he was the Producer. It became immediately clear that he used his power as a Producer to try and coerce women into sleeping with him. This was an on-location shoot so we were all staying at a Motel, he set to quickly harassing a female crew member by sending her aggressive texts, pages long, saying he was going to come to her hotel room, saying she wanted him, doing anything to coerce her into having sex with him. After she rejected his advances he then proceeded to follow her to her car where she had to physically reject him. Even after this he continued his text harassment minutes later; threatening to come to her room because he was the one who paid for the room and according to him all he had to do was ask the front desk for the key.

When this crew member (who was just starting out at the time) took it to other Producers Nick immediately started a campaign to get her fired, saying that she was slandering him and that he was going to sue her even though I personally saw the text messages and was privy to this knowledge. This was dealt with by other Producers who kept him in line although when someone like that is in such a position of power there are not many steps you can take to removing an abuser like Nick, and he knew that. He also made our lead female actress so uncomfortable by going to her personal hotel room and picking her up every morning that she wouldn’t report to set if he was anywhere near set. Due to this he had to remain off set for her scenes for the remainder of the shoot.

This was a film full of folks just starting out and none of us wanted to lose our careers so after the film was completed we all remained silent and went on with our lives, unfortunately.

After this film I would then recommend to people privately that they not work with Nick and avoid him, due to this some people started coming to me with their own traumatic stories about him. He has a long track record of targeting women new to the industry, pressuring them into having sex with him promising a “big break”, then when they refuse this he explodes on them. He verbally abuses them, tells them that their film career is over completely traumatizing them and in one instance that I am aware of physically forcing himself on a woman and sexually assaulting her. He uses his position of power to dominate, manipulate, abuse, assault and break down women in the industry.

I know of one woman who after an incident with him where she refused to have sex with him she didn’t work in the film industry again for 3 years because she didn’t feel like she could. Not only does he need to be publicly shamed and exiled from the film industry, he should be facing sexual assault charges for the years of abuse and trauma he has inflicted upon many women.

I am making this a public post and encouraging people in the film industry to share it if you feel comfortable, Nick should never feel like he is able to work in this industry again. My inbox is always open if anyone has any questions, concerns or wants a safe space to share their stories about him. However if you feel comfortable I encourage you to share them on this post so people can know the extent to which he is a vile, abusive man.

I hope this post will continue to set a precedent of calling out sexual assault and abuse like this where you see it, especially if you happen to hold a position of privilege like myself by being a man.

In Solidarity,

Keaton Slansky

The entire crew supported and corroborated Keaton’s post. Gyeney was quick to threaten crew members, people who shared the story, and victims with legal action.
Nicholas Gyeney Update 3.png

Gyeney and his assistants bombarded Facebook with complaints and managed to have the original post taken down. Keaton reposted it to his own Google Drive account (archive). Gyeney was kicked out of every Pacific Northwest filmmaker group and blacklisted by the community. The Seattle Film Office, and Women In Film released statements condemning him.

In response to Gyeney’s behavior, WIF created a resource page to address predatory producers.

Then this was posted about Bryce Dallas Howard on 4chan.

Ridden out on a rail, he’s now in Santa Monica. Second Nature has been renamed The Gender Flip Card, with Gyeney’s name removed from the film’s website and most credits. His sidekick Edi posted the following, to address Gyeney’s extremely low, automatically generated MyLife score—
Nicholas Gyeney - Self Review on MyLife.jpg

His MyLife profile was simultaneously barraged with positive reviews…

If you’re going to compulsively compliment yourself, don’t post them all at the exact same time. Try changing up your writing style, and don’t make it sound like your fictional friends are giving you a reach-around with the praise. Thank you Nicholas, very cool! Maybe also learn to not highlight your own buzzwords of “bitter” and “envious”, while threatening through your fictional friends. You’re batting 0-8, when it comes to lawsuits.

And, Seattle is just “bitter” and “envious” over how rich and successful he is.

“Beta Test” – Defrauding investors out of millions, then getting ordered to pay it all back
For every Pacific Rim, there’s an Atlantic Rim. For every Gamer, there’s a Beta Test. In 2016, Gyeney released his remake of Gamer with Manu Bennett. This is technically the only film of his not funded by his mum, though she did get it backed by Vegas investor Kevon Stover and Destination Services Association president Shelley Stepanek for $2 million, with the guarantee of widespread distribution. The movie was released on VOD by Screen Gems on July 22nd, while Gyeney paid a handful of theaters to screen it.

Tens of thousands of 10-star ratings immediately went up on IMDb, with new accounts with nearly-identical syntax calling it one of the best movies of all time and that the oh-so-young director behind it is shooting to the top. But, with 11 THOUSAND positive ratings from new 1-time accounts over the span of hours, the investors noticed something. Despite the perpetuated number of reviews, the earnings were… nothing – as much as a high school courtesy clerk makes in 6 months.

What was promised to the investors who sacrificed their life savings was all a fraud. On August 23rd, they sued Gyeney for Fraud, Fraud In The Inducement, Breach Of Contract, Breach Of The Implied Covenant Of Good Faith And Fair Dealing, Breach Of Fiduciary Duty, Open Book Account, Account Stated, Unjust Enrichment, Money Had And Received. They won the case on April 10th, 2017, leaving Gyeney to pay nearly $2 million (Case No: A-16-742181-C in Clark County).

Financial Fraud.png

Gyeney has since claimed that the investors defrauded the court, and that he can’t be legally accountable since he is not from Nevada. That argument didn’t stick.

And, Kevon Stover and Shelley Stepanek are just jealous and bitter over how rich and successful he is.

“Ultra Low”
Do you want to see how a real life villain interprets themselves and the surrounding world? Near the end of the fraud lawsuit, Gyeney decided to create a 2-hour quasi-autobiographical advertisement called Ultra Low.

In this fantasy setting a group of struggling filmmakers is ready to throw in the towel, but stick around because they are inspired by Gyeney, the only one of them smart enough to make it in the industry. The group is confused because the universally-beloved masterpiece Beta Test has been rejected by Sundance, putting the festival’s legitimacy in question. Like Tommy Wiseau’s character in The Room, literally every character in every scene says that they wish they knew how Gyeney does what he does or how they wish they were as smart, rich, talented, and successful as him. He recreated the premiere of Beta Test, complete with a screaming audience on their feet, wiping tears from their eyes, men trying to control their squirting boners and women struggling with their gushy crotches. Gyeney slowly crosses the stage and raises his arms, as the world embraces him for the genius he is. He also paid Lauren Holly (famously blacklisted for refusing Weinstein’s advances) to say dialogue telling him his next script is the best thing she’s ever read and he will bless this earth. He also got Tami Stronach (also cut from Hollywood for refusing predatory advances) to play one of his assistants’ girlfriend.

best movie ever plz raep me nicholas gyeney.jpg

Bet you thought I made this part up.

You know how there’s that horrible scene from Boyhood where Patricia Arquette’s character tells the Latino man to get out there and make something of himself? Ultra Low recreates it by having Gyeney tell a homeless man that he shouldn’t ask for money, but get out there and make something out of himself… like him. To put it into perspective, this spoiled middle aged shit who was born on third base and has never worked an actual job tells a homeless man to work for a change. In the end, Gyeney is now at the top of Hollywood, shooting his next Sundance-bound film called Ultra Low. The homeless man is behind the camera, saying, “Ready when you are, boss! *Sigh*… God bless Nicholas Gyeney.”

While it didn’t go to any notable festivals, Ultra Low took home awards from underground ones. 2 years later, it found a distributor in Asylum’s equal, Green Apple Entertainment, which very quietly slipped it online in October without acknowledging it.

It does have two positive reviews still remaining (that Gyeney didn’t tag for harassment) from people who totally aren’t him or his mum. Here’s one of them…
Nicholas Gyeney - Fake Reviews 8.jpg

Filmmakers were required to register with IMDb in order to submit to festivals through its WithoutABox service. Why would this be what prompts a filmmaker to create a new account with the sole purpose of proclaiming that Gyeney is better than them and that everyone else is bitter and jealous?

Here's what other people have to say about the movie…
Ultra Low - Review.jpg

Nicholas Gyeney - Retort 4.jpg

Like clockwork, another ancient 1-time account from Seattle that wasn’t active for the better part of a decade, and didn’t watch the movie swooped in to advertise Gyeney with info nobody but him would have. Brand new 1-time accounts that haven’t purchased the film have also popped up on Amazon with the sole purpose of saying the same thing.
Nicholas Gyeney - Fake Reviews 12.jpg

It has been fun to see the film’s actors find about his antics.

Recent ventures
Gyeney teamed up with Jared Safier, known for machine gunning Asylum-grade films and is too making a movie about how great he is. They’re looking to shop Gyeney’s projects onto any financiers who don’t check court records. He roped a group of some poor old Siberian bastards into having him direct their passion project called Veronika, A Siberian Love Story. After learning about the lawsuits, the Veronika crew removed Gyeney and Safier from the production in March 2020.

He's now partnered up with a Stanley Kubrick impersonator called Kris Krainock. This should be rich.

See, unlike with other lolcow film directors like Neil Breen or Uwe Boll I've never even heard of this guy's films, for all I know they could be good. If the guy's at least a competent film director then he really isn't a lolcow, just kind of an ass. If his films are godawful then include some clips in the OP for us to laugh at, otherwise this thread is veering a little too much into "personal army request" territory.

It might be funny to watch and critique his films, if any of them are online. Maybe post them in the OP?

A little fishy for a newbie to be making a thread like this. Do you have any personal attachment to this person?
Not personally. Fucked over half the film scene & tried to get on top of my classmate when he was 30 & she was 16. Haven't been farm in 2 years.
@The Boofy Boop you forgot this.

Different addy. He was blacklisted out of Seattle over 3 years ago.

Never mind what other people say about him, this may be the single-most narcissistic autobiography I've ever read:

So, as you embark on your journey towards greatness, trying to satisfy that beast within you, take heed. You must always remember the importance of embracing yourself as a student yearning to absorb greater knowledge, wisdom,

ABOUT NICHOLAS GYENEY

Nicholas enjoys filmmaking, eating delicious food, watching movies with loved ones, and writing pretentious biographies in the third person. He was born in Seattle to Hungarian parents on July 15th, 1986, and quickly immersed himself in the world of cinema with the guidance of his loving father, Örs, who would introduce Nicholas to new films like Star Wars, The Terminator series, and the adventures of James Bond. Sadly, the tradition ended in 1998 when Nicholas’ father died tragically. Fueled by his loss, Nicholas started diving deeper into movies than ever before and soon discovered his calling as a filmmaker. After being awarded a full ride to the University of Southern California’s prestigious film program, Nicholas began work on his first independent film while continuing his studies. After a successful premiere, the film found distribution and began paving the road for Nicholas to establish relationships with many successful industry professionals.

In 2009, with USC and his first feature behind him, and after three years developing and sharpening his abilities as a filmmaker, Nicholas wrote, produced, and directed his 2nd feature and first theatrically released film, “The Penitent Man,” which has been highly acclaimed for its unique structure and style. “The Penitent Man” stars Lance Henriksen (Aliens, The Terminator, Millennium), and Andrew Keegan (10 Things I Hate About You), and is available on Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, and other digital platforms.

In 2012, Nicholas directed his third feature, a dark comedy called, “Matt’s Chance” starring Edward Furlong, Lee Majors, Margot Kidder, and Gary Busey. After a successful film festival tour that garnered critical acclaim and several awards for best picture, acting, and original score, “Matt’s Chance” enjoyed a brief limited theatrical run, and is now available on various VOD platforms.

In 2015, Nicholas made an indie homage to 90s action movies called “Beta Test.” Sporting an exciting cast of both rising stars and genre veterans including Manu Bennett (Arrow, Spartacus, The Hobbit Trilogy), Larenz Tate (Menace II Society, Crash, The Postman), and Linden Ashby (Mortal Kombat, Teen Wolf, Wyatt Earp), “Beta Test” also boasts one of the longest single-shot choreographed fight sequences in film history.

2018 marked the culmination of his time producing films in Seattle with the meta-drama “Ultra Low”, which takes a hard look behind the scenes at the struggles of indie filmmaking. “Ultra Low” had a successful festival run, winning 10 Best Picture awards, and several others for writing, directing, and acting, and was released wide across digital platforms in late 2019.
Now in Los Angeles, Nicholas is quickly assembling a slate of projects in efforts to take his career to the next level.

AN OPEN LETTER FROM NICHOLAS GYENEY

It pounds away at you like an unrelenting drum. It‘s a voice inside telling you to reach as far as you can, to never settle, to become more. Like a permanent alarm clock, it sits there reminding you to accomplish great things, to give back, and to be remembered.

If you’re reading this and find yourself saying, “I know! That’s exactly it!” then remember one thing: Never give up.

My name is Nicholas Gyeney, and I am a filmmaker.

To say that I am a successful entrepreneur would be a disservice to both you, the reader, as well as my dream. While I am proud and grateful for my accomplishments thus far, as delivered famously by Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman, “I’m just getting warmed up.”

I have produced and directed six feature films, with four securing theatrical releases in select cities across America and the world. I am currently in pre-production on an action film starring some of Hollywood’s biggest names which is also heading to theaters, and in development on two films to be shot immediately following that.

These accomplishments and plans are pieces to my ambitious dream, which like the universe we inhabit, is infinite and ever expanding.

So how did I get here? What drove me? And why did I do it? Well, it all started with a little boy and a father who showed him the magic of movies.

I was raised in Seattle with my sister Michelle, and two loving Hungarian parents, Ilona and Örs. From the time I could walk, my father was sitting me down and showing me movie after movie. Thus, the seeds were planted, and with my father at my side, I began to immerse myself into the world of motion pictures.

Sadly, the father/son tradition ended far too soon, as my father died tragically in November of 1998. That remarkable and influential period of my life was over when I was just 12 years old. Looking back, it seems now like the blink of an eye. But a powerful blink it was.

I have long believed that those with a burning desire to accomplish great things do so due to a spark from a life changing or eye opening event. For me, it was the death of my father. Fueled by my loss, I started diving deeper into movies than ever before and soon discovered my calling as a filmmaker.

To any young Spielberg’s out there, I can offer some insights I’ve learned along my path. You see, there is a key ingredient to becoming successful in this business that many filmmakers of my generation fail to realize: You have to understand the business. The artistry and creativity involved with producing a film is undeniably important, but without an understanding of how the industry works, which is to say, what it takes to sell your films and become successful doing it, you, as a budding filmmaker, will almost certainly end up as one of the many starving artists forever struggling to display their creative voice.

So, as you embark on your journey towards greatness, trying to satisfy that beast within you, take heed. You must always remember the importance of embracing yourself as a student yearning to absorb greater knowledge, wisdom, and skill. Along the road, you will be rejected. You will question your abilities. You will run into unforeseen roadblocks. I know this only from experience. But, for every 100 rejections, for every instance of failure, success and acceptance is looming just around the corner. Keep pushing forward. Keep fighting every battle. Eventually, with enough patience, determination, humility, and vision, you too can break down the door and achieve your dreams.
