There was something a year ago or so about a Harry Potter store opening up in NYC I think it was. A whole store in a corner lot for Harry Potter! (Ten years ago I'd have been all over that, I'd like to say I'd matured since, but that would be a lie)

I laughed at the thought of the seething and coping going on at that news. Harry Potter is always going to be a big deal. It's LotR for millennials. Twilight was a flash in the pan, but like it or not Harry Potter is a true cultural phenomenon. Part of that is good marketing, part of it was just sheer dumb luck that she started getting the attention of kids and kept the attention until they become adults with disposable income (which is where the marketing comes in). It was a literal once in a billion thing that hardly ever happens.

Most people who like a Thing don't follow the talent on Twitter. Be it authors or actors. They coonsoom Thing, they coonsoom product related to Thing, they read/write fanfic related to Thing, then they move on. Years later they look back at Thing with fondness and have a laugh that they were so swept up in Thing.

Only autists follow the talent and care about what they have to say. The "masses" of cis allies that are rabidly pro-tranny and still have a golden snitch hanging off their rear view mirror? They haven't heard anything about Rowling's "transphobia". If they have, they don't care because normal people can separate artist from art in most cases.

I wouldn't go near a FTM not because they're men but because they are more interested in simping for their "sisters" and obsessed with gender. But there also needs to be the distinction that even the latter isn't an LGB affiliation. Say what you will about homosexuality but it's not some disease that needs to be cured, it's a natural defect that happens sometimes. Thinking you're stuck in the wrong body however is legit mental illness. The gay rights movement has been fighting from the beginning to normalize the idea that gays and lesbians are normal, well adjusted members of society who just want to be accepted instead of ostracized for not wanting to fuck the opposite sex. The deviation literally starts in the name: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender. One of these is not like the others. And this shit is only expanding, now being "brown" is enough to be part of LGBT, and you also have the people pushing for "autismgender" and general neurodivergency as being inherently 'queer.'

I remember a similar thing happened with asexuals a few years ago, about whether the A in LGBTQIA+++ should stand for Asexual or Ally. Personally, i don’t think it makes sense to include asexuals with LGB, because lesbians, gays, and bisexuals all have same-sex attraction in common (and rights pertaining to such), whereas asexuals do not. But I will grant that asexuality is at least tangentially related the concept of sexuality (being lack thereof), whereas trangenderism doesn’t even have that going for it. It makes absolutely no sense to tack the T on the end. Then again, the Q made it so straight people who want to be special can join, so i guess anything’s fair game now.
