Assuming he's not talking bollocks, this is why I think majority decisions should be a thing if they aren't already. If you have 1 or 2 holdouts who will not budge after many hours of deliberation, court should just bypass them and declare a majority decision. I know Bongland does this with permission from the judge and only after so many hours of deliberation. Basically says "well if you can't get an unanimous decision, try and get a majority of 11-1 or 10-2. If you can't get that, then it's a hung jury and will be a mistrial".
Public backlash should not be a consideration here unless you want mob rule and they should not hold up a decision for days on end, wasting time to save their own skin or push an agenda. Neither should they put the defendant through another possible trial and waste more time and resources. Just get the fucking decision over with.
That'd be the best punishment for the arrogance he showed off during the interrogation.

I think this would be the best thing to do. Especially with how the media is ramping up their propaganda. I have no doubts the jury have seen or heard something about the trial at this point.
