Twitter and social media as a whole have significant cultural meaning and power. I wish it wasn't this way, but Twitter, more than Facebook or Reddit, is famous for its immediacy. You want to rally up people? Get on Twitter. Get your dirt and your posts and your tweet threads and see it re-tweeted everywhere.

That's how Twitter removed a sitting President, "fortified" an election, and gathers support for organizations like the Lincoln Project. It's also where guys like Dave Chapelle get grants cancelled for his former high school and for people to lose their jobs under social media scrutiny.

It may not represent the bulk of what a country or community thinks, but it's influential. Twitter posts end up on tumblr, tumblr posts end up on Twitter, twitter and tumblr posts end up on Reddit, and Reddit posts show up on Twitter.
