i think it has to do with the dynamic of power in the situation

besides that they can independently determine that she was very much forced into doing it, and still not charge Chris with Rape because Barb requested they don't. Even if the state pressed rape charges, if they couldn't get barb to testify it would be a nightmare.

There are very few felony charges I can think of that would fit this case, one of them being rape.

Here's the fun thing about rape charges: Barb gets to decide whether they're pressed. When someone is raped or otherwise assaulted they get to call the shots on if charges are pressed or not. If Barb was incapacitated/deemed incompetent then the police/courts could press charges on her behalf, however, since she was sent home alone they clearly trust her decision making.

They can press incest charges because incest in and of itself is a crime. They can't press assault/rape charges if Barb insists that no rape/assault took place.

Right, which is why I think a rape charge is very, very unlikely, especially with the revelation that Barb is possibly writing to Chris in jail.

However the incest with mother charge *CAN* be a felony. It can be charged, at the discretion of the prosecution, as a Class 5 felony or a Class 1 misdemeanor. If Chris is arraigned on felony incest, it will have to go to circuit court. Since Chris is still in jail, he is definitely charged with something, as they can't keep you in jail without charges. Since the case is still in J&DR court, he hasn't been charged with any felonies yet. The instant it hits circuit court we know things have gotten worse for Chris.

They can, but they don't *have* to. Prosecutors are free to ignore crime as much as they want, up until they piss off the electorate such that they get voted out of office, or if they piss off the legislature enough that they get impeached, or at least have a special prosecutor assigned for the cases the regular prosecutor ignored.

The prosecutor here clearly thinks Chris is the more responsible party and doesn't want to waste time prosecuting an elderly woman.

You read way too much into harmless speculation brah. I said that it could have been her tripping over the name because that is 99% what it was. Merely mentioning the slight possibility that she stumbled because she is used to using a different name is not weenery.

That would be a complete failure of the state, but it could happen simply because the system is too lazy, and it's not the first time the Chandlers win via their tard immunity. Understand that the state already allowed these two morons to have guardianship over eachother (at least for Chris over Barb) when they're not capable adults. Silver lining is no one gives a shit about Barb or Chris, so them only hurting eachother isn't something most people will lose sleep over.

I don't think a Street Preacher Saga will happen as Chris is too meek to do such things consistently, but who knows, he might wind up doing it if he's actually homeless. If the system does its job and gets him into social services and housing post-release, then he'll probably stay indoors playing with toys as per usual.
