No one but him can handle swoleness of such magnitude.

what happened to that anyway? haven't really been in these parts of the farms for a while...
Last thing I read about it was that the comics weren't selling that well and the books were collecting dust in stores, so to boost their publicity, they released some lgbtqia comic covers featuring all the "queer" characters in sw with rainbows to celebrate pride month (including "Landonis") and High Republic's grand achievement at boosting the queer quota for sw. This was months ago though and I don't give enough fucks about Disney to know what they're up to anymore.

Thanks for reminding me Ackbar in DisCanon dies by getting sucked into outer space and nobody gives a fuck because everybody is too distracted by yaass queen Admiral Danger Hair killing herself. Also he's a deadbeat dad because go fuck yourself. I reject all the people who said his death didn't matter because he was "just some fish guy". Even if he was a side character he still should've mattered to the characters in the story.

Not set in outter space, targeting the same demographics & toy market as Marvel/Star Wars (specifically cool spaceship explosions, melee combat, lasers, futuristic (or at least fantastic with moving parts) gadgets).
Aliens/Predator are close, but that targets an older Demographic with more 'statues' due to the remaining horror elements and guns/military which most parents are uncomfortable with for very young kids.
Avatar/Independence Day are mostly aimed at adults.
Aliens/Predator by the 90ies were franchises also aimed at older kid demographic. As weapons, violence, military, horror, war and so on been a male child stable since humans evolved from apes. It is the parents (mostly Karens and their eunuched husbands) who think all that is bad for children.

Another reminder of how horribly everything and everyone was managed for the Disney reboot. Also don't forget the people who were sending hate and threats to Tim Rose over his disappointment over Ackbar's treatment.
Still I wish you guys would stop reminding me of the disney junk that I've worked so hard to forget. As far as non-Disney material is concerned, Ackbar was a famed front lines hero from beginning to end who retired peacefully but came back for one last hoorah against the Vong, inspired a boost of morale so grand that it turned the tide of the war in the Republic's favor, then died peacefully aboard his battleship of old age and was given a grand funeral ceremony across his planet. And his legacy lived on through his highly successful niece turned jedi master, and one of Luke's top students I might add.

Just popping by to warn you all not to get excited about Dark Horse whatsoever. As much as I used to love that company, and the work they used to put out, they aren't the same company anymore.

Randy Stradley, the longtime editor who spearheaded Alien vs Predator, the DH Tenure on Star Wars, and the seminal runs on Conan The Barbarian, retired earlier this year, and the person that replaced him with has...very 'different' plans for Dark Horse...

This is the least surprising thing I have read all year

Edit: other than Kathleen's contract getting renewed

That is a shame.

Will he be played by The Rock in the movies?

He will be played by The Wok to get that chink money flowing:

The original comics are transphobic and because they don't have enough BIPOC making points about modern politics, they are systemically oppressing millions of black and brown bodies while they are erasing Queer BLTQA++ identities as each storyline reinforces the patriarchy by having male characters demonstrate competency and constant digusting male gaze
anyone got a bingo yet?

DisneyCareers wants to know your location

he rest were mostly origin movies and sequels to establish the characters with a smaller cast and (usually) smaller stakes. there's nothing preventing star wars from doing the same, and you got a whole universe to play in so the movies don't even have to be connected (besides some mention or easter egg). just give people lightsabers, space magic and pew pew (or a cute baby yoda) with a non-exceptional story and they'll be fine with it

Here's a bold idea: maybe after years of introducing and estabilishing the characters they could come up with a big threat from the outside of the galaxy, which would affect many characters and planets? That would be a sure hit!

Joking aside, I have read Agents of Chaos duology. Buying "Legends" edition not only slaps you in the face with that mocking logo, but there are also ads of Chuck Wendig's book on the first pages, yet purchasing the original editions is outside my budget.
I actually read both books 15-20 years ago and remembered few scenes, like a fucking giant elephant trunk biting into a space station and sucking people out or Hapan army being wiped out in an instant by friendly fire, but many details I forgot - including this whole Wurth Skidder hubbub and Hutt and Vong trying to outcuck each other.
While this duology delivered on misery porn, it wasn't as spectacular as two previous books (Dark Tide). When reading for the first time, I had no idea where the fuck the Centerpoint Station did come from as I haven't read the original novel it appeared, now I can at least google it. That Ryn gypsy also felt as a cheap replacement/cope after Chewbacca, but upon this reading I didn't think it was, strange. Also lol Vergere

All in all, it was a fun read, but not as exciting for me as Dark Tide. Balance Point is next, which I don't remember reading in the past, but I want to read something else first and then I will come back to NJO.

Well if they keep it up, it won't be any comics at all.

Currently playing KOTOR for the first time. I'm currently with Mission and Cal (?) trying to find Bastila. Just got out of the sewers.

Any tips or tricks worth mentioning? I know to get HK to join.
If you want to afford the best gear in the game be sure to beat all Swoop races and sell your racing bonds to the Rodian on Yavin Station. Same goes for all spare gear/items you might want to sell (the Rodian pays ~ double for anything, iirc).
If you want/need to grind, these things on Tatooine give decent Exp. and drop valuable skull plates which will, again, go a long way towards your gear funds.

I never liked Vergere. I really wanted Luke to just shoot down all her bullshit. She was just really, really annoying to me for some reason.
I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve always found Vergere to be an extremely pretentious character. Her methods for indoctrinating people to her philosophy was always extremely sketchy, and I’m not shocked at all that Luke is shown to take issue with her methods in Destiny’s Way. In fact, the writers should have had Luke question her methods even more, IMO.

When she was retconned into a Sith a few books later, my only reaction was to nod and be like: “Oh, the person who thought it was perfectly okay to take advantage of someone in a susceptible and tortured state of mind—literally on their last threads of sanity—to groom into a personal follower is a Sith? Color me fucking surprised.”

I have that admiral ackbar figure on a shelf and have had him there for over a decade thinking about it now. Didn't know he had a fully sculpted standard gi joe body under his clothes instead of plain ass plastic. Got it new in box at a flea market but not in the usual way you'd expect. If I remember this shit right, for some reason it was thrown in the trash at a flea market, despite nothing being wrong with it. Thing wasn't dirty or moldy or anything someone just tossed the fucking thing and some other shit in the garbage. I DID throw out the box though so he's just standing on the shelf, as one should proper. Should probably dust him off some day. The day I scored a free ackbar is a day indeed.
