Didn't powerlevel much in the the thread before but originally from Lake county, lived in Chicago and just west of Kenosha.
Currently saving up to move far away from Chicago as possible, even being on the edge of Chicagoland right now is suffering.

Was pretty crazy seeing somewhere I've been tons of times turn into the scene of a riot and mass media attention.

Somers? You don't have to answer, just curious. I hear it's pretty peaceful out there. Kenosha is encroaching further and further west, so that may not last long.

Everyone I know is desperate to get out of the area. There have ALWAYS been acts of violence in that town (serial killer Alton Coleman, other serial killers Luigi Aiello and Spriggie Hensley, multiple murders dotted around the city, a disembodied torso found in the gorgeous park I mentioned earlier, a little black girl burned to death and left in a different park, etc). But as far as the state goes Kenosha is more or less the relatively (focus on "relatively") quiet lake town of 100,000 people that's between two much, much worse cities. The problem is that those cities are pushing in and the ghetto that used to be the mere uptown area in the middle of the city is growing.

And you're right. You see the kind of shit that happened last year in the huge metropolises like St. Louis and so forth. You never expect it to break out in your own town, on your own streets. It's indescribably surreal, I couldn't possibly communicate to the rest of you guys how weird it is to say "hey that's my high school with graffiti on it" or "hey I lived across the street from that car lot that was burned down". It's fucking sad.

Tasers fail constantly- not mechanically, the devices work fine, but in actual use. Prongs hit too close? Its just a glorified stun gun. Prongs get caught on thick clothing and don't penetrate? Nothing. You miss? Well you realistically only have one shot in most models, then you can use drive stuns, which are painful but not debilitating. You have to have a good attachment of two prongs spaced far enough apart to get the effect most people think of as stopping someone with a taser. And sometimes they just don't because who fucking knows why.
