Friction is something it works very well between party members as it smoothes out through the course of adventures. But like you say, the cultural differences and also preconceptions about X or Y people and their customs work very well at creating that conflict between people that come from different origins or paths of life.

And if a retard like me can get something mildly good in that area for a shitty little project, anyone can. But the people creating this (and sadly, a lot of mainstream media) are politics first and creativity second. Their ideas have to conform to their idiotic beliefs first and foremost and after chopping off everything problematic, things start to flow. If anything, one should be able to make characters that you appreciate but you don't agree with. Different ideas on morality, issues, religious beliefs... But the average SJW needs to make a feelgood "everyone is ok with everyone despite their obvious differences, be them physical or cultural". It's so fucking boring...

Some Discord friends and I decided to watch a couple episodes last night with the full intention of riffing on it. (Don't worry, we pirated it.) I went in assuming some of the criticism was exaggerated and that it wouldn't be THAT bad.

It is. Were it not for the occasional swears thrown out this is basically a rejected Cartoon Network or 4Kids show. It's hilarious for all the wrong reasons and I love how absolutely everyone is tearing it apart.

Youtube's occasionally been recomending me videos of these guys reacting to this fucking show but this one video of the one scene with the school shooter ginger kid is fucking golden from how discussion goes from chill and somewhat observant to just, well see for yourself lmao.

The rest of the stuff in that clip is hilarious, but special mention goes to Raye voice acting her self-insert. Like, bitch, you're voice acting your self-insert in a cartoon that YOU created! Every animator would literally KILL to be in your position! At least try to sound a LITTLE more invested! Instead we get "your wrist is broken, whatever, I guess 😐".

The funniest shit is how the wrist is supposedly broken. How the fuck did he even break his wrist? He's still moving it and holding it like it's just mildly sore. Meanwhile the short purple hair kid's face is beaten and bloody when we see him climb up on the shoreline. I've said it when I first saw this fucking scene and I'll say it again, in any other show this would be playful banter between characters that wouldnt result in the ginger bastard beating up the short kid.

Because they're hacks with no creative bone in their body and have to rely on "quirky shout-out references imitations" to "prove" they love anime like the ex-DeviantArt/Newgrounds artists they are (and also to save time thinking up actual choreography). And to hide it, they stylized the chibis to also double as a shout-out to Rumiko Takahashi because now it's cool to like Ranma 1/2.

It's just disingenuous all around.

To be fair, a random CalArts generated character in this show shoving and brutally assaulting one of the princesses like Peter Griffin would be more entertaining than trying too hard to watch a single episode of this.

The worst sin any form of entertainment can commit is being boring. That's what HGS is: Boring. Really any form of excitement, no matter how retarded, is probably going to elicit that reaction.

SJW weaboos ain't much different from the anime normies where they watched very few anime almost always the current new hotness, evergreens, and Ghibli and then leave. Looking at the time frame in question that most likely when those SJWs got into anime and out of it. Been seeing this same pattern repeat itself monthly ever since normies discovered anime in the mid 90ies. Past ten plus years it also includes the SJWs discovering anime, wanting to remake it and destroyed the originals.
