Truth is, I think trans day of rememnerance should extend beyond murder: suicide should be our main focus. Suicide, disease, car crashes, etc., all things that take a LOT of people in themain trans age group of 12 to 40, trans & cis. It garners more sympathy but more importantly, highlights serious battles the trans community in most 1st world countries face. Stuggles with reckless behavior and self image are some of the reasons awareness week exists: we highlight the struggles along with the good points and bring AWARENESS to how to help. Showing the small murder pool is good, they can still be mourned, but the murderpool vs the much larger regular death count is a gap that needs to be narrowed further.
The biggest threat to most trans people in the USA and UK are sex work diseases, drug use, and.... themselves.
