I do think that chantal is active and consistently crazy enough to have her own board here--replacing ALRs-- but there is no way she can outmaneuver chris. She's too fast and her burnout is gonna happen quick. She'll just crash and burn within a few years. Chris has been a cow since the 80s onward. As has been mentioned numerous times, there is very little chance that this goes to trial with a jury, there is even less of a chance that Chris will be questioned or have the opportunity to make a statement that isn't some tantrum/outburst unprompted (and even then, it should be assumed that his attorney will do his best to ensure that Chris doesn't say a fucking word out of turn).

Honestly By the time he’s sentenced officially he’ll have already integrated himself pretty well into the prison community, considering da merge bullshit and fantasies still run wild through his head and the structured jail and isolation from the world has given him more time to think about his imaginary world than ever before. Chris has never had a trial in his life, ever. Why do people keep talking about Chris trials that have never happened?

Wouldn't the defense go over his history of being "manipulated by trolls" so that they could use that in his defense? (Especially stuff like the Bluespike incident where he was straight-up blackmailed into shoving the medallion up his ass?)

I could see them arguing that Bella threatened some type of harm against him if he didn't do it, but that would also be contradicted by his own words in the Bella call (such as how he mentioned he did it because he was "horney", or how Bella seemed ignorant of the specific details).

The defense might go over some of it in a negotiation, outside of court, to come up with a deal that gives Chris an appropriate sentence and release conditions.

The judge does not need or want to hear this stuff, only have it summarized when the final deal is presented for approval.

In the incredibly unlikely event that this goes to trial, it would not be brought up during the trial because almost none of it has any bearing on whether Chris committed the crime or not. The only way this could possibly be a defense is if Bella used some mind control ray that literally controlled Chris' body to fuck Barb. The only relevant part for the prosecution would be the confession.

Like if Bella had a gun literally pointed at Chris that might also be a defense, but the threat would have to be one that directly would result in death or grievous bodily harm, or some other severe act that could not be undone if Chris had instead gone to the authorities. Being bullied is not a defense, as long as you had a choice.

A duress defense is incredibly weak and almost never works except in the most extreme of circumstances. Being under duress usually only affects sentencing, effectively turning it into a guilty plea.

GUYS. There are only two important things. 1) Is there sufficient evidence, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Chris fucked his mom? A reasonable doubt being, given the evidence (which we tards do not know all of) is there a plausible way that he did NOT fuck his mom? Can it be proven that she was not consenting, for a rape charge? 2) What should be done with Chris, given the totality of the cirumstances? What is best for the community, and what is best for Chris, and where is a middle ground?

A plea deal makes the assumption that there is proof, and then tries to find the best middle ground possible, leaning slightly in the defense's favor. A trial is more concerned with determining the proof, and then in sentencing the punishment leans in the community's favor, based on the opinions of the jury or judge (depending on who determines the sentence).

Chris is not on trial, and will probably never be on trial. There are not witnesses giving testimony. The prosecution only produced enough to make the charge in the first place. Chris hasn't provided any testimony (though he may have run his mouth off outside of court).

Since family court has been kind of a black box, I can't say exactly what's happening, but my guess is that there was the arraignment, and since then Heilburg has been stalling to gather information, form the best pitch he can for the bargain, and stave off the preliminary hearing as long as possible. Chris has been good in terms of not ordering Heilburg to do anything stupid, despite doing stupid shit himself as per usual. A deal can be reached at any time (even in the middle of a trial many places, though not sure about Virginia), but they will probably want to get it done before the prelim happens. At and after prelim everyone has to put in the effort for a trial even if the trial is canceled, and that annoys prosecutors, and it also often results in a worse deal for the defendant. I've never seen a bargain reached in the middle of a trial, but I've seen it happen within minutes before the start.

It doesn't seem like it based on the letters. He's certainly had a psych eval but since he is only getting worse, I don't think they've come up with a treatment plan for him. It just might not be an option in a short term holding facility which may only be able to handle inmates' current prescriptions and not have staff qualified to diagnose Chris and put him on Lithium, Pimozide and Thalidomide.

The cops have evidence incest happened. A person can walk into a police station and say they murdered someone and give all sorts of details, but if there is no physical evidence that it actually happened, the cops won't charge them. They may detain them for filing a false police report and actively continue a murder investigation, but if they can't find a shred of an actual murder, they won't tag it onto the charges. Chris is detained on an incest charge which means there's at least a victim's statement or a rape kit/gynecological exam (I am vomit) that has given them enough evidence to press that charge and for the Prosecutor's Office to pursue it as well.
