excuse the tism and beating a dead khet but something I found hysterical especially after listening to him mash towards the end of the stream and my god was it loud last night.

I knew PP wasn't very good at fighting games. Sure he's better than your average casual, he can actually block....occasionally.

but my god him playing Shermie was quite a thing. He can barely do DPs on the fly, sure as fuck can't do reverse DPs. You can see it last night every time he would go for one Shermie would "t-bag" and if you listen you can hear his stick furiously moving about riding the edge of the gate.

I honestly think that he only likes SSF2ST because he can autopilot and it's all just muscle memory. It's really fascinating how that forza stream where when he wasn't paying attention to the game he was driving better than he was when he was actively playing and how that type of play style can be translated into other games.

Sure I guess KoF was probably not in the upper echelons of fighters back when he was in the arcade scene in North America (although I guarantee you he's being intentionally ignorant and he would have known at least a few people who played KoF on and off) but this was mostly because he would have experienced some dissonance between different regions, KoF was mostly stuck on arcade cabinets for the longest time and took a while to move to consoles, that was not the case at all with Street Fighter, Capcom took advantage of the growing popularity of the game in western markets and saw an opportunity to make more money, SNK for some reason decided to stick with the neo geo for a while, but obviously they've made a multitude of games in the franchise just as much (if not more I believe just having a brief look) as Capcom have with Street Fighter, so it's not like KoF didn't have it's own dedicated audience, I think it was the go to game in lots of places in South America as well, as the arcades tournaments there were a little bit different then what they were then North America.

So that's probably well beyond Phil's understanding to comprehend that an entirely different scene can have it's own top level games and players that don't actually play street fighter two all the time.

I mean Street Fighter had a lot of marketing and outside spin offs. Because, SNK was porting to other consoles. AoF was on Genesis and SNES. SamSho was too. I don't know if KoF could work on those. But PS1 and Saturn had em too. The problem was that SNK didnt ever really have the money to port and localize. Which I guess is the important thing. Capcom just had more money for marketing and spreading things out.

But the idea that SNK isn't mainstream is fucking ridiculous. Like sure you didn't have a franchise war. Because they often collaborated. But, both sides also took pot shots at each other. Most notably in DSP circle "like some sort of Neo Geo conversion..."

I don't think him wanting Phil to play Pokémon is totally innocent. I mean the main characters of Pokémon are 10 year old children. Many paypigs like watching Pokémon but in this context Derich may be trying to take what he can get. Which is a scary throught and I hope I am wrong.

to get out of the corner. Instead you sat around and blocked every attack with your face.

Pretty much. Phil is a fucking poser. True, SNK was second banana to Capcom when it came to fighters, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't "mainstream". The fact that the Neo Geo AES and MVS were just so damned expensive that not many people could afford them. And yeah, two of the guys who created Street Fighter went to SNK and created Fatal Fury. But really, when you have Capcom making a character that pokes fun at SNK's fighters in Dan, and the fact that Capcom had several crossover titles with SNK Playmore doesn't mean that it's not fucking mainstream, Phil. Also, North American arcades were NOT the same as Japanese arcades. There's more to the world than fucking Connecticut, you pleb.
