Already posted but entirely true. I think a lot of this is on the judge reducing the bail to $500. A big reason as to why it was set to that though is the guy was sitting in jail awaiting trial for 7 months. If standard procedure for bail jumping was doubling the fee, then someone might have just penciled in $1000 and thought nothing of it.
