She's also explained many times that she doesn't want to leave him high and dry but she isn't personally giving him cash (except when she buys him things) and isn't supporting him. If they were to cut ties completely, I'd assume that would mean pulling his account from under him since it's under her SIN. And because it's currently his only source of income, she feels bad about it.

I genuinely think she's too stupid to have thought it through and realized that letting someone else take income using her SIN is tax fraud/evasion.

It makes sense from the boy's point of view, if they are both as we expect, drawing social security benefits that they'd hide any income that might potentially reduce their handouts. And more fool Chinny if she does hand over all their money, because she alone will bear the responsibility for paying tax on their channels income. Given she has said in the past (it was around the time her tax agent was bugging her) that Nader told her to not do her taxes, it's doubtful he'd allow her to hold back a percentage to meet her tax obligation. Peetz is a different story in that he's supposedly no longer contributing to the monthly rent, so his deal could well be to let Chinny put anything he earns towards their joint expenses. Who knows!!! Whatever the situation is, it's as messy for Chinny as it is for them.

ETA: When the Canadian tax office eventually catch up with her she can't even just excuse herself by admitting to funnelling money to them, because then she will presumably dig herself an even deeper hole for aiding these two dimwits in defrauding their social security system. While not a Canadian, so I really don't know how it works there, if she were in my country then tax evasion is usually just significant fines and penalties, while social security fraud will land you with a prison sentence.

I do know for a fact you have to give a SIN/SSN in order to monetize your Youtube. Youtube had to answer to the IRS just like any other company and when they monetize their creators they shift the tax liability onto them. When people have their monetized accounts banned it's a big deal because while they can make a new one, they can't monetize it because they can't use their SIN/SSN anymore and it's required, so effectively it's really you, personally, who gets banned, not just your username.

So... I've done some Googling. Take all this with a grain of salt, but here's what I've determined.

Spoiler: AdSense Sperging

1. You can link as many channels to one AdSense account as you like
2. It seems that you might need a SIN to set up an AdSense account. I'm not sure.
3. HOWEVER, as of this year, Google will be withholding taxes from AdSense accounts based on the number of US viewers (up to 24%). However, the actual amount they deduct depends on where you're from, and if you can prove you're from a country with a tax treaty with the US. For Canadians, this means providing their SIN so that Google knows they're Canadian.

I don't know if this means that YouTube reports this to Revenue Canada, but it does mean that Revenue Canada shouldn't have a hard time tracking you down, since it's all associated with your SIN.

If YouTube doesn't report it, then yeah -- there's a good chance she can skate for ages. But this whole tax withholding thing is new (only started in May 2021) so who knows how that will shake out. It's possible YouTube will report her, and she's not even close to being smart enough to understanding this whole process -- she's always got away with it, and just giving YouTube her SIN won't be enough to clue her in to the idea that something might be changing here.

tl;dr Google has her SIN. Whether or not they report her earnings to Revenue Canada is another matter.

And if a jilted Beezer reports her, then all bets are off. That's really the #1 issue here. Whether other Canadian YouTubers can get away with it is immaterial, because Gunt is exceptional and there are people who will go out of their way to make sure Revenue Canada hears alllllll about her YouTube career, if they haven't already.

She knows she has gotten away with paying no taxes for four years, so why would any tax agency start snooping around now. She panicked a little at the beginning of the year because she thought YouTube was going to start withholding, but as soon as it was clear they weren't, she was home free.

Agree. And it’s completely in character for Chantal. People act as if Chantal doesn’t literally just live her life day to day. She doesn’t look back at her past. (She makes the same mistakes over and over again) and she doesn’t take any responsibilities for the future (no retirement plans. No plans if she gets demonetized. No savings.) She wakes up. Does her shitty little routines like argue with Nader, binge eat, drive around town in a circle, get High, scroll social media and sleep. She has no thought of yesterday or tomorrow. As hard as it is to believe. Chantal really does completely live her life guided by impulses and cycling behaviors. Very, very primitive brain.
