It's a bit different, though, when he has a semi-autonomous YouTube channel. Yes, she edits his videos -- but he was offering people money to do his editing. He does his own livestreams without her being present. He's clearly using the channel for income, and it wouldn't take someone hours of viewing to determine that -- Revenue Canada would probably make that determination at a glance. I would imagine the government would classify him as some sort of employee, or maybe a contractor, working for Chantal. Either way, him being paid cash under the table for generating content on what's ultimately her channel, is a problem.
It's even more of a problem for Chins, though. She can't get away with saying that yeah, this dude ran a channel on her YouTube account, and sure, she paid the taxes on the income from that channel, but all the money she gave him/items she bought him were gifts, not a salary or payment in kind. This will fly about as well as Chantal herself. That's how Nader would get busted -- not from Revenue Canada deigning to investigate him directly, but through Chantal neglecting to be up front about how her channel is run, who's involved, etc.
If this whole multiple-channels-on-one-SIN-thing is the case, of course. I've no idea how YouTube actually works, so I don't know if the idea that this is all being run through her account is correct or not. But based on what my fellow Kiwis are saying (and hopefully recovering receipts for) this could get really fucking wild here in a minute.
