Georgia 'LYNCHING' citizen fatally shoots unarmed black man ... Video Emerges, Grand Jury to Convene

The fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery -- a 25-year-old black man out for a jog when he was chased and killed -- was caught on video, prompting a call for a grand jury to review the case.

Arbery's death is being referred to as a modern-day lynching, as he was unarmed when he was gunned down in Brunswick, GA on February 23 by a white citizen named Travis McMichael ... who has not been arrested or charged. He also happens to be the son of a former district attorney investigator.

As you can see in the video, Arbery was jogging when he was stopped by McMichael and his father in a white pickup truck. McMichael was armed with a shotgun. Arbery appears to attempt to run around the truck before he and McMichael start grappling.

After at least 2 shots, the men continued struggling over the gun ... until Arbery stumbles away, shot in the mid-section, and then collapses to the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

McMichael has not been charged in the shooting ... reportedly because he and his father, who was in the back of the truck, claim they were trying to make a citizen's arrest. They claim Ahmaud fit the description of a suspect in a string of recent break-ins in the area.

After the emergence of the video, D.A. Pro Tempore Tom Durden has decided the case "should be presented to the grand jury of Glynn County for consideration of criminal charges against those involved in the death of Mr. Arbery.”

Ahmaud's family says the use of deadly force was unnecessary.

Here's the statement from the district attorney who was brought in to oversee the case and decide how and whether the case should be prosecuted.

Attorney Lee Merritt, who represents Arberys mother, claims "The series of events captured in this video confirm what all the evidence indicated prior to its release— Ahmaud Arbery was pursued by three white men that targeted him solely because of his race and murdered him..."

He was a non-resident of the area who had been filmed trespassing on work sites and was known to be involved in numerous cases of petty theft. There’s significant evidence he also stole a number of firearms, and despite scores of reports, the local cops did nothing.

There are three parties at blame for this situation. Arbery for being a habitual thief; the police, for not acting on dozens of reports that clearly establish that the neighborhood was being targeted by at least Arbery if not others; and the McMichaels, who in attempting to resolve the situation that the cops were too fucking lazy and stupid to, were unfortunately attacked by Arbery, leading to this outcome.

We can endlessly debate division of culpability but I’d like to see the cops that allowed this situation to develop to lose their jobs.

Nope, never called on Arbery IIRC. The cop testified quite a bit about stuff like this on the stand, as one of the long shot things the defense was trying to argue was that the cops deputized the elder McMicheal.

3. There hasn't been valuable shit like copper plumbing and wiring used in new construction since the 80s. Aluminum wiring and CPVC is what they'd find today.

Isn't that because they never had a positive ID on the thief? Again, the big issue here is that the cops kept getting calls but never made it out there in time. There was no way anyone, cops or otherwise, would have known exactly who the culprit was.

They were 'minding their own business' in that they were trying to prove to an indifferent police force that they were being targeted by a serial thief.
When you are the target for repeated crime, and the police are too ineffectual to assist you, what the fuck are you supposed to do? Sit back and watch as yourself and your neighbors lose hundreds, if not thousands or dollars worth of property a year and just soak the loss?

I will expand on my assertion that shooting a nigger stealing sunglasses at your store would merit a good self defense claim.

Shopkeepers have a right in nearly all states to detain those that are stealing merchandise in a reasonable manner.

If the shoplifter even hints at force or the threat thereof, that is robbery.

Now with this in mind, you have a right to confront a shoplifter. You can probably even have a pistol in a belt holster.

The moment the shoplifter try to rush you, you could assume they are going for your gun. At that point, deadly force is justified.
