I honestly forgot Jet was "white" in the anime (mostly because it's been a while since I watched it) and when the cast was announced my first thought was "aight, that checks out", probably because of the dub VA.
CB could work by having a variety of ethnicities for the main cast because each main character looks unique in the original, which is pretty uncommon in anime (hello same face syndrome with one of 4 different eye designs). However, SJW wokeshit poisoned the project and we got the turd that we see today. Idk what was so difficult with keeping the OG story for the live action, I think a lot of story elements would have transitioned well into live action had they kept to the actual story.
Tbf, my mother remembers being talked about "warm fuzzies" and "sharp pricklies" in school back in the late 70s and early 80s. The Silent Gen was fucking with Gen X long before the millenials were out of diapers and a majority were born. My mom also thought that it was stupid back then as it is today.
