What a shame, this video is s o o o much better than his new shit. Simple, personal and empirical without being mind-numbingly self obsessed.

So this was August 2018.
Do we have a fairly agreed upon, markable date more or less for hen he started to turn into what he is now? ( I dont mean trooning)

short hair? la femme? impossiblé!
I doubt Ollie has the attention span to watch a masterpiece of silent cinema.

I put down £50 that if he's doing Joan of Arc he'll base the hair off the Albert Lynch portrait:

And a further £20 on him riffing on Zendaya's Atelier Versace sexy Joan of Arc look from the Met Gala a couple of years back

"Trans Rights!" is a demand to stop Bad Things and to fight for Good Things.
Also helps the phrase is basically a meme. It's easy to manipulate younger guys into saying it because it's trendy and funny and has the same emotional weight to it as yelling "Big Chungus". Getting people of minor influence to say "trans rights" was basically all those guys wanted to do at the time.

IIRC HBomberguy forced the meme when eCelebrities called into his Mermaids charity stream and that's when it got mainstream as a two word meme.

Contras comment under the video - just guys being dudes™️

I had to google what Paul Joseph Tube was referencing lol. I assume its Paul Joseph Watson? The crazy thing is that all these leftest men will disavow people like Paul Joseph Watson whilst hating women in a whole different way :story:

This proves that they have literally no funny memes, the only funny meme that originated with progressives was "amogus" but that got co-opted by the right because it was actually funny and not tied in with humorless activism.

'Trans rights' is a thought terminating cliché.

Its remarkable how many things from 'when prophecy fails' you find alive and kicking in modern.... Movements.

cults
I agree that it’s a cult, but “trans rights” is really just a vague normie slogan. The true thought-terminating cliche in the trans cult is “trans women are women” (and to a lesser extent “trans men are men”); you can tell from the way it is used to shut down valid disagreement, and from the way they force nonbelievers and potential apostates to repeat the the phrase like it is a shahada.

My thinking is that thought-terminated clichés really have to be actual somewhat meaningful statements that one can repeat to oneself to quieten cognitive dissonance, so they need to contain a verb. “Trans rights are human rights” might count.

Looks like we're getting an Athena cosplay and not Joan of Arc, thank god. I think he took Nyk's shade towards him to heart and this is his attempt to step up the relevancy of his costumes
I actually cant with this LOL. Athena is the "im not like other girls" when it comes to the greek gods - is that the topic of the video LOL?

I eat my words. He went for a Goddess over a Saint. I.O.U. £70.

At first glance it's not the worst look. It's at least somewhat cohesive. He's realised a concept for once, and seems to have done his research.

The armour is incredibly cheap looking - you can't expect a YouTuber to invest in anything more than polyurethane LARP armour for this but it looks so cheaply made (not so much the breastplate, but the rest of it. Very much carved foam painted with a metallic "burnished" shimmer paint. Won't have been inexpensive but there's much more skilled artisans out there for not much more). Also the lophon crest is all janky. Cape fabric looks cheap as well.

I'll reserve further judgement until I see it in motion. The cheek guards at least hide a lot of his face.

Am I the only one noticing the fucking makeup? Look at his nose!

>Roman helmet
>Greek shield
>Renaissance spear
Good catch, he's wearing a Legionary helmet, he should be wearing a Corinthian Helmet which is usually what Greek warriors, and Athena in particular, are portrayed with:
Mattei_Athena_Louvre_Ma530_n2.jpg
Its a minor thing I suppose if we're just talking about cheap costuming for a Youtube video but its not like its that hard to find a reasonable looking Corinthian helmet in a props department, and considering how much of a song and dance he makes of his costumes I would assume he'd put in some more effort to get the Greek thing he's clearly going for right here. Even during the Roman era Athena, or Minerva over in Rome, was still portrayed with a Greek style helmet.

What do you think of the YouTube channel "philosophy Tube"?

He’s quite a smart chap, perhaps a good deal smarter than me, but he is one of the most intellectually dishonest people on YouTube, and he is misinforming people for ideological reasons.
Olly is a communist who uses the appearance of neutral authority to sell his ideology to those interested in philosophy, and employs bright colours and theatrics, as well as a trendy aesthetic to distract from the extensive distortion of the content he criticises, and a selective ignorance of political history.
The easiest example is his series of liberalism, where he claims Mill and Locke are racists. There is very little evidence for this. The only evidence that Mill was a racist, is a quote of his from On Liberty, where he argues that illiterate societies with “barbarian” cultures (read: pillagers and peasants) should be grateful to be ruled by a skilled emperor. The examples are telling: “a Charlemagne or an Akbar”. That means Europeans and Indians, the two civilisations he most admired. The notion that illiterate people are too uninformed to fully participate in parliamentary democracy is not an extraordinarily controversial statement. He admired the Indians so much that he insisted, while he was seconded to the East India Company, that they be educated in their own languages, in their own traditions, what would nowadays be called decolonised pedagogy, a hundred years ahead of his time. He argued for a principle of non-interference in Indian affairs, and a tolerance of their traditions (except for Sati, the burning of widows).
On John Locke, Olly deliberately overlooks the lengths Locke went to to argue to his peers that indigenous Americans were intellectual peers. And while he is often credited with co-authoring the Carolina constitution, there is no evidence that he wrote the parts guaranteeing slave-ownership, and never defended it in his philosophy. In fact, he wrote into law harsher punishments for attacking or murdering natives and blacks than for attacking or killing whites. While Locke was thoroughly aware of the cruelties of the slave trade, and did nothing about it, that counts for every man woman and child to walk the earth until the 18th century.
Olly’s piece on the philosophy of Antifa is completely uncritical of the book despite the numerous historical inaccuracies, the most central of which is the blatant lie that “freedom of speech” is what allowed the Nazis to flourish. In fact, the Weimar republic was the first to institute hatespeech laws, and Nazis wore their convictions and jailtime as badges of honour, as evidence of the Weimar government’s conspiracy with Western Imperialists to keep the German people down. Victimhood, perceived or otherwise is extremely important to fascists. Its how the NSDAP justified building their own paramilitary movement - they were “defending themselves” against violent communists. There are other gaping inaccuracies in that propaganda tome, but those best undermine the philosophical argument for the need for antifascist street gangs. Antifa is the biggest recruitment tool for the right, and they should stop.
He claims to be “giving away his degree”. He isn’t. He is teaching an extremely watered down version of philosophy, which doesn’t involve learning to analyse texts, to take ones interlocutors charitably, or to approach topics neutrally before applying judgment. There is no outline of how to make arguments, or how they work. There is no explanation of the ethics of truth-seeking. These things are the core of philosophy, so what he really is doing is a sort of philosophy-lite with a communist slant. He has no interest in delivering a (neutral (or as neutral as possible) guided tour through the important thinkers and schools of thought and how they apply to life and how to live.
He has one mission - to sell ideology. It leads him to elide extremely pedestrian facts which undermine every argument he erects, and which take 30 seconds of Googling to discover. For one trivial example, the housing crisis. He argues that we need to just give homeless people houses to solve homelessness. Putting aside the complications of real attempts to do this around the world, most empty houses in Britain are owned by the state, not private individuals. Its just that people don’t want to live in dying Durham, where there are no jobs, they want to live in London. To fill these houses, you would have to forcibly transplant people. That sounds pretty nasty to me.
Of course, the worst in my opinion, is that while he claims to stick by the principle of never attacking anyone, he dehumanises neoliberals by calling them “garbage humans”. Whatever you may think of this nebulous and ill-defined school of governance, this is not an appropriate way to talk about people, especially if you claim to abide by a principle of decency.
I cant attack everything he does here, or this would be a book, but suffice it to say, he is not an ethical presenter, and he is not what he says he is. Which is disappointing, and unpleasant

I actually don't mind it too much outside of the breastplate, which just looks off to me. Some parts of it look rather cheap - the cape reminds me of the curtains in my bedroom - but overall I think it's his best costume so far. @Shotgun Badger the makeup does look really off around the nose for some reason, almost like a reverse contour? I didn't even notice it because overall the MUA did a good job (aside from the rhinestones (?) above the brow, very HBO Euphoria and I don't like it). Olly is at least continuing to wear false eyelashes which is much needed, I have no clue why it took him so long to start wearing them. His stylist wanted a lot of gold in the look so I'm guessing the makeup around the nose is off because the MUA just threw in as much gold highlighter as she could. Maybe it looks better from the front.

Athena had no mother and was born from Zeus' forehead. This would actually be a fitting metaphor for the troon belief that a woman is nothing but an idea in a man's head.

Poetic 🙌

I thought it was going to be Zendaya based Joan of Arc as well but that version has an incredibly unforgiving hair style as well as TERF bangs - I can see why he didnt go for it.

Its a very drag style make up and I dont think anyone looks good in gold lipstick but people with thin man lips should definitely stay away.

Yeah you can even see that he’s had to have it painted to look like bronze when a replica of a Corinthian helmet would already have been bronze-coloured to begin with. My theory is that he didn’t want to wear anything that obscured his face too much because of his narcissism, or maybe because it would hide his makeup and emphasise his male facial features.

It’s not likely to be the biggest issue with whatever cavalcade of verbal diarrhoea he’s cooking up, but it’s a bit of a chortle contrasting the upper class intellectual knows-something-about-everything vibe he’s tried to cultivate for himself with him looking like he googled ‘Greek goddess Halloween costume’ and bought the first thing that came up.

looking at old vids

here's the restrictive dieting era - thinned out olly:

and here's our precious prince pretending he needs youtube tweens to give him money for housing so he doesn't need to have roommates (so that he has quiet to continue his vids for the fans of course!):

unbelievable

he's been begging for money for YEARS!

I was thinking the same thing, but a reasonably well reproduced Corinthian can just be propped up on the top of your head to let you expose your face, Metatron and LindyBeige do it in these videos and its the default pose for Athena in Greek artwork. I think the most likely explanation is that PT didn't care enough to get it right.
