My theory is that the other ranchers have always made Skye feel like shit for not being trans (or a trans woman, anyway), just to keep him in his place (and keep him from realizing that he could screw Bonnie out of half the ranch if they divorced). And given Skye’s low self-esteem (because why else would you even fuck Bonnie, much less marry him?), he constantly feels like he needs to ingratiate himself to the troons to maintain his living situation and support system. He stomachs Bonnie’s adultery and snide jabs because he knows that with Bonnie gone, his justification for belonging at the ranch is in question, and that even with the other ranchers mad at Bonnie, they wouldn’t hesitate to take Bonnie’s side if it became a fight between Bonnie and Skye. Given that his fit of despair happened a whole 9 hours after Bonnie’s tweet, I have to assume that something happened off of twitter. They probably had a fight on the phone/text when Sky attempted to address the whole “Sky scared me” thing. Bonnie being Bonnie blamed him even harder.

It doesn’t really surprise me to see that Penny is trying to show support for both sides. He seems to have a good relationship with both of them, if not just because of the roles they each play in the tranch. Bonnie and Sky own the property, Bonnie is the other headship, and Sky does manual labor.
