Not even that really, its almost always either a relatively small number of shows from the mid to late 90s that have been talked to death since forever.
If it was ripping off whatever new thing was popular, at least stuff would feel less stale.

I already mentioned those ala "evergreens" but should have clarified it earlier. Cause seeing and hearing about the same shit for almost thirty fucking years have been tedious torture.

The funniest shit is how the wrist is supposedly broken. How the fuck did he even break his wrist? He's still moving it and holding it like it's just mildly sore. Meanwhile the short purple hair kid's face is beaten and bloody when we see him climb up on the shoreline. I've said it when I first saw this fucking scene and I'll say it again, in any other show this would be playful banter between characters that wouldnt result in the ginger bastard beating up the short kid.

It’s even funnier when you consider that the wrist line is clearly supposed to come across as badass, but the only way you break your wrist decking someone is if you have absolute shit form that only happens if you’ve never exercised a day in your life and lack all common sense.

Ginger should be a laughing stock just for being in a fighting class at an adventuring academy (presumably to fight for a living) and fucking up a basic punch that badly. Drunk sorority girls throw hands better than that.

He brings up some interesting points, though despite his assertions he’s still using irony completely wrong. The type of humor he’s describing would be closer to epigrammatic, juxtaposition, non-sequitur, or farcical rather than any sort of verbal, dramatic, or situational irony.

I’d also say that mist the problems he lists all stem from the same problem. Namely that HGS isn’t really about anything (because the people who made it can’t be bothered to do more than copy shit with no clue what works) so there’s nothing meaningful to build off of or build towards. HGS doesn’t have character development, world building, or meaningful conflict, or even a central story in most episodes (it’s really telling that the episode summaries have to explain everything that happens in the episode because they can’t hone in on the actual episode premises) because it doesn’t want to have any of that. It doesn’t even want to be slice of life, I don’t think, because even the most “story about nothing” stories still requires some kind of story. If this show thought it could get away with being nothing but still images of character concept art with no story at all, it probably would’ve content being that.

One thing that really bothers me about this show is the ginger kid subplot. Like he was bullied for not being manly and feels inferior about his own masculinity compared to his family. The show basically gives a bad implication that men who aren’t masculine enough should become trans and the fact Raye’s self insert encourages this just is wrong. It doesn’t help this literally does not fix any of ginger kid’s insecurities at all.

EDIT: Also she liked Snapdragon and wished he'd be in a better show as well as written much better. Even says that if the show wanted to bring up transgenderism, it should've saved it for when Snapdragon talked to the professor about it instead of first revealing it to Rosemary whom ended up doing nothing with the information anyway.

Seems like that's the general consensus going around in that Snapdragon really did deserve better.

I think you could actually make a serious argument for that. Most people wouldn't get into anime and manga if they had to pay the exorbitant prices some services want. A lot of people who pirate then go on to buy the physical mangas for stories they really like, or they buy other merchandise.

My personal thoughts on why Snapdragon is considered the best character in this shitshow because there was a fragment of a halfway decent character there alongside a character arc with him being insecure that he's a girly boy instead of the macho manly man that his dad and brother is. Had Professor Self-Insert just said "dude, just cause you're a girly boy doesn't change the fact that you're still a man" then it would have been a pretty good message about how just because you deviate from the societal norms of your gender, doesn't make you any less of a boy or a girl. But then they wouldn't have that child grooming egg/transgender rep, now would they?
