It is a fallacy to believe the New World didn't have great pre-Columbian civilizations from the Inca, Maya and Aztec in South/Central America to the Mississippian and Anasazi in North America, these were all at least comparable to Medieval European civilizations in technology and structure. Can someone please explain to me what exactly was so great about Indian civilization prior to European contact? from my understanding it wasn't all that great yet Libreals love the White people coming to North America was the worst thing ever narrative.
The "noble savage" though is 100% bullshit. Aztecs warred to sustain a massive sacrifice quota, Apache were slavers (other tribes allied with settlers against the Apache and Aztecs because they were the local evil empires), and many tribes participated in cannibalism both endo and exo. They were human beings, nothing less but also nothing more. They had art, culture, science, things worth preserving, but they also weren't perfect beings living in a utopia.
Sure it's a tragedy what was lost as disease did way more than direct conflict ever could, but it was not better than any other civilization.
