Specifically for Covid the problem is that it might become more dangerous in how it affects the body rather than just trying to propagate itself (not in terms of lethality but longterm damage) due to the environmental constraints its been put under so quickly with the vaccine mandate stupidity and its emphasis against early treatment. This was why I posted that Viral Evolution study from the OP, because everything that's said here in the article about the concerns for Omicron being able to circumvent antibodies, etc. is reflective of the scientific study already released of another variant.
