Apple's App Store art is fucking horrendous | Flat art / Alegria / Corporate Memphis - click for feet

grubub, the future of all 3d animation. I am not shitting you look at pixar's recent movies it's the same artstyle.
It inspires hatred and violence. I do not fully understand why. I already don't watch 3D animation very often, but if it starts looking like that we're going to have problems. Calarts is bad enough in 2D

Missed one of the best examples of woke art that came with the "self repair" push.

Ah, yes, this is the average apple consumer that will be taking apart their devices with suction cups and doing repairs via soldering.

I don’t hate it. It’s not flat or inoffensive, and reminds me of a time when corporate design teams weren’t pathologically afraid of shading, highlighting and more saturated color palettes.
I couldn't agree more, it reminds me of artwork for mobile games back when skeuomorphic design hadn't been ditched yet and before pixel art became the standard for indie games.

I really miss this kind of art. I realize it might sound dumb but these actually inspire me to have some hope and optimism simply because they have character and the author's personality completely transpires through their work. I seriously can't understand how corporations haven't realized this yet and insist on this suicide-inducing Alegria shit. Though I'll admit, you can't make fatass sheboons and "synergistic" bugmen look good no matter the artstyle and I don't think I want to see them try.

Even back then this was so uninspiring and sterile, I remember the first time I saw this I thought it looked so boring:

I think the catalyst for 3D flat art was Hotel Transylvania. If you look at the clip below it looks so fucking lifeless even compared to the sections with humans in the original Toy Story, and that's saying something because they aged so poorly. It's obvious they're trying to make the Mexican culture seep through but the characters, unnatural animation (all movement lacks momentum which makes them looks like they're made of plastic and I can't stand the forced facial expressions), "jumpy" camera angles, it all looks so fucking soulless and samey because we've seen it a hundred times before. Even Tangled has more character than this.

Oh my God what's wrong with her fingers.

When I was a kid, me and my father would occasionally laugh at some of his old game collection, featuring some of the laziest design of the 1970s:

Today I read through this thread and it hit me that the lazy copy/pasted picture style of a niche hobby for boomer children looks better and has more personality than the graphic design of media giants in the 2020s. What the hell.
I don't get it, what's lazy about it? Did they rip the illustrations off someone else?

I watched that Encanto clip with the audio off, and I honestly have no idea what emotions were supposed to be conveyed, except maybe bewilderment from the chubby girl. Disney would be better off ditching animation altogether.

To me that becomes very clear when you compare it to something like Inside Out. Even if you watch the clip with the audio off, it's entirely possible to understand what is going on because of the context. If you show the clip above to any child they will understand that the girl is sad, the mom is concerned and the dad is distracted, which ends up leading to an argument, and the dad sends her to her room. They didn't need forced facial expressions, instead they took the more artistic approach of showing what is going on inside their heads (which isn't even shown in the clip). I know ranting about children's movies is cringe but if you look at all the old Disney movies considered "classics" none of them do this forced expression crap but now it's absolutely everywhere. At this point Disney isn't any different from any other animation studio, which is crazy considering how much people like (or liked) to rail on Dreamworks and Sony for doing dumb minimal-effort movies for kids.

It's just a lazy collage of historical photos and illustrations, where you can downright see where they cut off the original pics. The first looks like a cock and balls, too.

I'm sure this has been posted here by now, but just in case...

There were over 100 copies of this book at a local thrift store. The plastic they were wrapped in hadn't been touched, and the asking price was fifty cents. That's too much money for ugly art and the same banal regurgitated back-handed writings of deathfats.
