The first rewrite: rather than just explaining his backstory like he’s reading a bullet point PowerPoint, this scene properly demonstrates character by having him react and express emotions as he’s telling his story, allowing the viewer to better empathize to his struggle. I love how she drew his longing eyes and body language in general, it's really good at conveying his feelings. It also made Rosemary far more cute, entertaining, and engaging as a character than anything as obnoxious as the actual show provides, it tells us that she has so much to learn about the world and the people around her without resorting to her just being a "quirky weirdo" that has her actions bite her on the ass constantly. The only thing I would do different is a more subtle way to say he's transgender, like "I wasn't always male", or something like that.Someone rewrote both "trans" scenes in HGS.
The second rewrite:
Snapdragon said:Why would you want to be a boy?!
^I'm not gonna lie, that legit made me laugh out loud. The biggest difference is the level of emotional connection between the audience and the characters. Jamie's more or less said the same thing as the original scene but she didn't have the words talked at the audience but had the audience sit down with the characters.Prof. Calloway said:The same reason that you want to be a girl you little shit!
Leaving the decision up to Snapdragon instead of railroading him into being trans?!And just know that, whoever you decide to be, there are options for you.
Raye, please hand your show over to Jamie, clearly she should be the one directing/writing it.
