Ive seen a couple of people lamenting Jack Dorsey leaving, saying he was one of the few Silicon Valley billionaires who was actually opposed to censorship and in favour of free speech.

Who gives a shit? If he never actually stopped anyone getting banned and allowed the site to slip into censoring more and more of its content, what good it it being opposed to censorship if your not going to do anything about it?

He's moving onto square and cashapp, where he is also promising it will be 'open' and 'for everyone' but just wait till there no more competitors and suddenly your assets are frozen by the company because you used no-no wordds.

I hate Jack Dorsey and I hope he keels over from a heart attack.

Retard, we don't know how much jack DID prevent. For all we know twitter was kept barely usable despite the tide of soy through his efforts. With him gone there will be no more check on the trannies that run the site, and the site will rapidly decend into total shitpile status.

Good. Twitter has openly hated anyone who wasn't a turbo leftist for years and there's no reason anyone should be using it. It's pathetic that everyone from people like Ethan Ralph to Andy Ngo to elected state senators rely on it like they do. I genuinely don't see the negative stereotypes in this thread where I work. Indians tend to be very professional and incredibly proficient and skilled from my experience, along with incredibly polite.

If you work in Tech, you will encounter no less than an Indian a day in external communication and most likely have at least one Indian engineer staffed. Tier 1 Indians are nothing like Tier 3 Indians - some of the most proficient engineers I have interacted with were Indians. I also spent 2 weeks trying to work in Indian Tier 1 support with a separate company just to get a password reset. I was taught Kubernetes by an Indian dude who was a genius (and a millionaire) and later that same day interacted with an Indian engineer that couldn't have more incompetent if they tried.

What I'm getting at is, it's all over the place and comes down largely to the level of their engineering and caste. Brahmins, the top, are going to come from mansions with house servants and receiving an international education. Vaishyas, lower caste, are going to come from IT Factory farms and are the ones calling you to tell you that your computer has a virus that only iTunes gift cards will fix. There are more Indians in each of these castes individually than there are White engineers total. I imagine if you work as an MSP / Tier 1 IT the Indians you are going to interact with are going to be terrible and, if you don't work in tech, you will only talk to Tier 1 Indians. This is why I think this perception is here.

I hope that Agrawal kindly does the needful and shuts down twitter completely. That's the only improvement I see for the future of the platform.

I'm going to have to agree with your "professional/proficient/skilled" point. When it comes to tech, they're almost always professional scam artists.

I mean, I haven't had great experiences working with Indian nationals, but no group is a monolith, even if I stand by the stance that they can be pretty damn racist when they let their guard down and speak freely. They actually treated the American-born Indians on my crew worse in a lot of ways than the rest of the Americans they hired on for their shitty B-movie, and that goes for the actors too. Indians on the whole are pretty cliquey despite the ethnic diversity of India itself. I think part of that exclusivity comes from being able to speak Hindi.

I can't speak for hiring and employment practices in tech or other fields that have a large presence of Indians on H1Bs, but it's a little known fact in the film industry that if a Bollywood production can't get made in India for one reason or another, they will shoot in the United States as a cost-cutting measure because Bollywood isn't beholden to the same standards as American labor unions and can hire locals for crew at a severely reduced rate.

I stopped really using Mastodon after 6 months because most of the art instances I wanted to follow had dumb shit like 'LGBTQ+/BIPOC-friendly' on their instance headers, which in of itself is a tacit admission that no one to the right of Che is welcome there. Sure, you got places like Poast and Shitposter.club that hold up free speech and irreverent humor in a way most websites don't anymore, but if the alternative to commie troon hugboxes are lolicons LARPing as trads and screaming 24/7 about white genocide, it's not gonna convince any normie disillusioned by Twitter to even dip in their toes.

Fedi needs to have a larger pool of instances catered to general interests that won't immediately be co-opted by politispergs, and unfortunately the only way I see that happening is if Twitter shoots themselves in the foot.

Maybe the only real answer is gab. Imagine seeing gab transform into a Twitter 2.0 again.
