I always knew outsourcing tech support to the shitskin dotheads would bite us hard in the long run. And that long run's destination was this.

If it follows Tumblr's trajectory, they'll ban porn off the platform in 4 years and everyone will fuck off to Instagram or something similar.

Despite being a very different format from forums, mass migration to Discord (or a service like it) would ironically bring back some of the feeling of the pre-2010’s Internet, which was dominated by various small forums and chat rooms where people with shared interests would coalesce.

Regardless of what problems it may have, IMO Discord is still vastly preferable to the god-awful centralized social media that has dominated the last decade+.

I would love it if the death of Twitter ended up sending people back to a system of content specific, user created, gatekept hidey-holes.
