All true. I cant believe he even thought he looked ok at the time. His chest had zero definition and was just soft and hairy and he looked kinda like how a boy's locker room smells. And he should've covered up his top half anyway because those arm straps on the wings make it look like a silly Halloween costume from the Dollar General and I honestly don't know *how* he thought that that looked even....slightly good. Much less like that uber-masc Baphomet statue.

It makes some of his clothing choices as the "Abigail" character a bit more understandable, just in that it solidifies that there's no deep thought or subtle genius or talented stylist trolling him going on with Abi. He just simply has no taste in clothing. He has no eye for style in general, or for individual pieces or lines and shapes and colors that flatter. He just wears.... whatever....and if this thread's any indication, it's more often than not baffling to actual women.

I'm trying to tease this out, and I assume that the strongest way he can present this is that Britannia is a deliberately ahistorical representation here because people's idea of their nation's past is often itself an ahistorical construct created to build an essential idea of what that nation should be, ie, during WW2 how the Japanese government instilled in its populace an idea of the 'Bushido spirit', drawing on mostly false ideas of Samurai honour and adherence to a historical code to try and institute a sense of extreme loyalty and self sacrifice among regular Japanese people alongside a belief that Japan was a nation of special providence which was destined to rule all of Asia.

I can kind of see where this may go, but its still very sloppy. In the case of Britannia it was pretty much always understood by anybody who used it that it was a fictional personification of Britain, essentially just like Uncle Sam in America, and wasn't really taken much further than that. If he's trying to make a commentary on the inherent absurdity of nationalism I think it would have been a much better idea to make it completely clear cut that it is Britannia, because she's got a very recognizable 'look' that's been set in stone for almost 250 years now and the combination of the armor, trident and shield emblazoned with the Union Jack tends to bring across a lot of the absurd pomp that you see with over the top nationalism that's ripe for critique. She even gets portrayed with a pet lion in many depictions, the image itself is almost a self parody. Instead its a much more visually dull unspecified image of a vaguely Greco-Roman goddess type.

But he's still staying tightlipped about it also being Athena and hiding behind calling it ahistorical? I really don't see where this can go that says anything insightful and the conflation of mostly non-related elements just seems like it will undermine his points if it really is somehow meant to be simultaneously a commentary on Britannia and Athena and their representations, by that logic I could argue that the below image is a mind blowing satire on our perceptions of the past:

I doubt any teacher in his school said "you are the future rulers of the world". Future rulers of the world go to Eton, Harrow, Westminster, Rugby, Charterhouse or Winchester (or for the girls, Cheltenham Ladies College) - not some small time private school in Newcastle.

For reference the confusingly named Royal Grammar School he attended is about £15k ($20k) a year. The public schools I just mentioned charge that a term.

Privately educated people who are left wing like to LARP and pretend they've walked out the pages of Tom Brown's Schooldays. Don't get me wrong, there was probably a tonne of snobs, a Latin motto, a poncey school prayer and some sort of dreary nickname for old alumni that have a special network. But poshos LOVE to lay it on thick and say "Gosh, they used to tell us to scorn the plebs beneath us" when most of the teachers were fairly down to Earth and the majority of their classmates had middle class parents who'd just done well for themselves.

Wealthy lefties get embarrassed by their privilege - so if they make it sound like they were boarding at The Shrewsbury School in the 1840s, it then becomes a narrative about how they were able to rise above that terrible class indoctrination and see the light. That makes them look good in a way saying "it was just a really really good school that had loads of excellent facilities, teachers who went out of their way to tutor you, a wealth of fantastic and well funded extra curricular activities and coaching classes for how to get into the best universities, along with helpful networking opportunities - and I only got to go because my parents were wealthy enough to pay for it!" doesn't.

Absolutely spot on, Olly is the most quintessential champagne socialist anybody could imagine, and I think he rationalizes the obvious ridiculous dichotomies with his lifestyle and background and what he says his political views are because he assumes that if there ever was an actual communist revolution in Britain his naturally self evident brilliance will mean he will be made leader for life immediately by the grateful peasants to guide them out of their squalor and ignorance with the most resplendent costume and makeup imaginable.

I don't get it, if you're non-dysphoric then why would you be attempting/committing suicide because of the state of your current body? And if you're fine with your body then why would you even need HRT and surgeries? Their entire argument makes no sense.
