Why would anyone complain about the HP retrospective? They’ve already won, JKR is not going to be there. Same reason they don’t complain about the HP themed rides—they are happy as long as everyone pretends JKR doesn’t even exist. That's not really how entertainment and licensing works tho, especially when you're the creator of something like Harry Potter. If Rowling wasn't involved it's most likely because she personally decided not to be and if she wanted to kill the project she easily could have, HBO can say whatever they want but at the end of the day the only way they were allowed to do this is because somewhere in the chain of command for Harry Potter licensing upon which Rowling still is at the very top- it was ok'd. She's in a unique boat of still being very much alive and rather young still so she still has personal ability to keep control over her legacy , her product, and it's uses.

She's smart enough to know how to play the game and she's playing the game by still letting people collab to release products, specials, etc. Harry Potter is kept in the public eye, she keeps making more money, companies and brands still want Harry Potter license use because they know it'll make them the sweet sweet money. All while Rowling gets to sit nice and cozy on her growing cash stack and smirk at the troons as her property continues to be relevant and popular and there's nothing they can do about that. Is she personally stepping away from representing her brand? sure, maybe but who cares? you can't cancel the phenomenome she created and she'll still be paid every time the license is used.

They would have 'won' if the special was cancelled totally, but it's still going ahead so it's a hollow victory. You can't have HP without Rowling as it's her creation, so every 'victory' they have will be hollow as they cannot seize control or ownership of Harry Potter which will forever be intrinsically linked to Rowling.

The worst thing about this new rule is that this will protect degenerates and criminals. With this new rule, couldn't he claim he didn't consent to those photos being shared and have them removed?

Outlawed TIMs competing against women. (At least in school sports, it's harder to demand that private leagues be sex segregated, which is probably fair.)

A bunch of states have already passed laws like these, so a confrontation was inevitable anyway, but Texas doing it is going to make the confrontation happen that much faster. Texas is a big state where college sports are super popular and Texas regularly hosts these college games.

Some elite college in some big blue city somewhere might've been able to avoid sending their girls teams to Oklahoma for a few years, maybe delay a lawsuit for some time, but not Texas.
