Kyle IS taking an online class whether singular or plural. His last week is this week. There is a distinction between someone who is ENROLLED to the university whether they attend in person or virtually. But online classes is open to anyone who wishes to enter and pay for the credits without being on a graduation plan. So the university is correct when they said that Kyle isn't an enrolled student while Kyle can still be a student taking one of their online classes.

They might be correct that he’s not “currently enrolled” since his teachers let him do a compassionate withdrawal prior to the trial, but yeah, doesn’t mean he’s not a student there.
