The reason why the “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” sales were down was because all the “deals” sucked. First off, you had to have a paid membership to Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, etc, in order to be able to get in line and MAYBE be able to get your hands on a PS5 or XboxX. Your odds still weren’t good because scalpers running bots to grab all those items up don’t mind paying for those memberships when they can sell those items for 100% markup over retail.
That’s another thing. Even on the stuff that they weren’t short on, there were no deals. Everything was near retail price. 10-15% off, sales like that come around once a month. Plus ANYTHING that was really in demand was full retail price.
Add to that the fact that most retailers didn’t even offer the “sales” prices on that day. Walmart started on the 22nd, (I know that because they did a decent sized PS5/XboxX drop on that date that a ton of folks, myself included, were lined up in. Most of the other retailers started early or drug sales out over the week and weekend. On Monday, there was nothing new to offer.
So it sucked. That’s why the sales were down.
