I agree in a way. Loli designs seem to be more popular than non-loli. Rushia, Pekora, Gura. Sure, Marine gets a ton of love but it feels like the loli avatar really helps enhance the whole "cute anime girl" vibe.

Kson is half I believe. From what I can remember her mother was in the US taking care of her grandparents and she had stayed in Japan with her father.
