My brief opinion on Phil’s recent move on calling his prestream a podcast

Like others have said, he will definitely shift his streams to be Ask the King focused and slowly cut out gaming all together. Only unique opinion I add is that I see him blaming the last year on his shift away from gaming. He’s been bitching about the “lack of games” with his take on a underwhelming “Broketober” and I see him saying that the industry is dead for “real gamers” like him.

He's slowly laying the ground for content involving less and less gaming.
Although is that actually much different from what he's currently like? You could go back only two years ago and his pre streams were not the same like they are now, they only ever went around max 10-20 minutes, basically a recount of how his day has been, what any updates he had for his twitch audience and read out his autistic schedule for people who don't know. The Reemergencies did pop up from time to time but that was the most of it and Phil didn't tend to hound on about it for that long the first time he mentioned it since at first he seemed embarrassed to talk about he was having money problems (his attitude has completely shifted since those days those, his desperation and/or greed is on full display).

Now it's guaranteed to go on for far longer when he demands that people help him reach his arbitrary tips goal, how long it's been since he's last worn a vest, how many subs he wants to hit and of course you have a bit of drahma spinrkled here and there because Phil loves to shit on people/trolls/companies who have "wronged" him, finally he attempts to wrap things up by claiming he wants either a pahsative or chill stream (depends on if the tips are consistently low or not and if he's ran out of spending money to immediately draw out) and then his constant hounding of please tip me bleeds into the gameplay.

Him having his "podcast" is just like you said, he's already built the foundation to elongate his discussions and opinions more and more frequently over the years because it doesn't seem to impact how much money certain whales throw at him, honestly he could entirely scrap ask the king and just make it apart of his regular schedule and you wouldn't have any major complaints from his viewers.

If DSP were smart he would move the needle the opposite direction and have 3-4 hours of actual gameplay per stream. He would finish games faster and likely pick up a larger audience.

But he isn't smart.

Edit: A podcast for him is irrelevant. He knows nothing about politics, religion, sports, business, or even video games for that matter. He has thin skin, no outside world experience, no friends, hardly any family, no content creator collaborators, and isn't involved in anything other than his stream, gin, and gatcha. What interesting points could he possibly make ? What insight does he have to share with the world? He is a recluse. A hermit. Any take he has will either

A) not be true
B) be something he read somewhere else
C) be said simply to oppose or spite someone (or a hot take to try to go "viral")

He could title his podcast: FENCE-SITTER LIVE!

Phil has done the pre-streams from the start so he is never going to stop doing it, I would love to see the amount of viewers and tippers he has lost because of this. When people click on a live stream they expect the start to take a little bit, not 2 hours+ for the gameplay to start like his streams. If he was smart then he would do a weekly longer one about any new games coming out, the games he's going to play and other shit and do a quick 10 min talk before each stream.

So the retrospective is coming up....what's the current thoughts on it ?
I may be in the minority but I love the retrospectives. You have to pay close attention to enjoy it, which is hard for any DSP stream these days, but there is some sprinkling of gold dust.

He shows that he hasn't changed or matured really at all in the last decade.

- He agrees with everything old Phil says.
- He laughs at the same times old Phil laughs.
- He'll look super bored watching his own content and as a bonus sometimes checks to see how much longer this Derich-submitted video has left; and if only for a moment feels the painful boredom any non-wheelchair feels when watching his content
- If old Phil is ranting about somebody or something, current Phil will pause to expand on old Phil's diatribe, only to un-pause and hear old Phil say exactly the same thing.
- He ALWAYS comments about how fat and unhealthy he was as if he's some pillar of health current day.
- He always gets super quiet and introspective whenever Rambo is on the screen, filled with regret that he let his one true love get away.
- Leanna might as well have never been born

So the retrospective is coming up and I I'm excited as fuck because it's going to be a boring train wreck, what's the current thoughts on it ?

the Retrospective is December's goal, for it to happen in January, i'm pretty sure the last membership goal he failed was for a retrospective, so it'll be interesting to see if the sentiment has changed amongst his viewers

November's goal(s) were/are for a Christmas marathon in Dec, (a marathon during Christmas, not necessarily Christmas themed games), including some holiday themed DSP tries it, and Feasting with the King

I think he said he'll be drinking too, i'm pretty sure some paypig sent him random beers last time

And don't forget, the whole vest shit (aka more efficient stripping his paypigs of their money) started with a retrospective

I mean, it works for Tim Pool.

Call me dated but when the fuck have your garden variety working class flights had a proper sit down meal? The only exceptions I remember were with Virgin air that had food you could order such as salads sammiches and wraps and the other are your overseas flights shit like emirates who has a literal sushi and wine bar on their airbuses cause the tickets already cost five grand. TLDR I don't know of any airlines since the 90's that had actual meals even when it was coast to coast flights maybe to Hawaii but never been.
I can confirm that even on coast to coast flights in the states, you don’t get jack shit for a meal. Last time I did it, United brought around the snack cart twice though, so that was neat.

I definitely agree that we can observe less and less gaming over time, but what I meant was that he's slowly introducing groundwork that will justify him doing it openly.

For Phil's entire life he has used health excuses to justify not doing shit, so for me at least, the more I hear him talk about carpal tunnel syndrome, the more I think he's readying up for a straight up talk show arc. He's been pretty mask off about hating video games for awhile now so honestly it's probably a natural next step for the pigroach.

Imagine the detractor snort and throat clear edit compilations if he goes full podcast. My god...

I was thinking in regards to him apparently watching his wife playing the Witcher 3, was he autistically screeching when he seem some woman's cleavage? Does he act like a utter tard in front of her too?

Also with Phil wanting to do a talk show because even the most simple journo games hurt is small brain, hasn't he noticed he barely gets any tips during his ranting? Honestly the pre stream or whatever shit you wanna call it is more like a festival for anyone with a brain to laugh at him. And he wants to eventually turn it into hours of that? He would eventually have to give in and allow people to troll him, even his paypigs don't care about the pre stream.

The problem with Phil deciding to go full “podcast” is that he would be a real ♿️ to still immediately pull his stream archive and split his “podcast” into 4 one hour parts for the YouTube ad revenue. Phil doesn’t have enough material to coherently speak for 4 hrs straight with no gameplay as a crutch. Plus, are his paypigs really gonna want to watch a Part 3 podcast of any given day the next day or three weeks after the fact, especially when his gameplay edits don’t even average 1,000 views?

But he isn't smart.
It's not just that he isn't smart,he is also hopelessly lazy and refuses to commit to anything that he doesn't absolutely love (which at this point is limited to WWE Champions).

At the end of the day playing video games does take some effort, not to mention that it exposes hios embarrasing lack of skill (atleast for someone who claims to be a gaming guru and the best all around gamer in the USA).

By moving to a podcast type of stream he can just sit there with a glass of gin in one hand and his cellphone with an open session of WWE in the other while rambling on about whatever's on his mind at the moment without having to put any effort into it.

I would love to hear Phil being ahnest in a podcast. I'd actually listen to his opinions on current affairs, race relations, relationships, religion - as long as he let the mask drop and gave us his real boomer polak views. You know he's got some absolutely retarded takes.

He could call it the Phil Burnell ACKsperience, and instead of DMT he'd talk about gin and antihistamines

And don't forget, the whole vest shit (aka more efficient stripping his paypigs of their money) started with a retrospective
I also distinctly remember the last time he did a begtrospective there was some sort of DSP stein in some old video and when alludda peepol (read: one person) told him to go get it he immediately got up and went looking for it, he hoped it would turn into Vest Streak 2.0.
