The tongue thrusting is giving me flashbacks to working with this one kid with HIE... every time I'd brush his teeth, do oral suctioning, or apply lip balm (basically anything to do with the mouth) he would do a similar disgusting rhythmic tongue thrusting, as if he was a baby trying to latch onto a nipple. Except he was 17-18 years old, and never breastfed even in infancy. He was 100% tube fed his whole life and he still never grew out of that suckling reflex. It even made this wet smacking sound *shudder*

As they get older, and the face gets bigger and the head gets proportionally smaller, and the voice/tard noises sound deeper, trust me these infantile reflexes get less and less cute.

More like because newborns are completely dependent on their caretakers and have virtually no personality and so are ripe for projecting. Therefore only a newborn is desirable to someone like the narc sociopath. Atlas however is already showing plenty of personality as well as independence, which makes him highly undesirable to her. He doesn't sit (mostly) still and silent and allow mommy to play dress-up puppeteer for social media, and actually requires supervision instead of just laying where ever she can flop him down (so she can concentrate on trash TV and playing on social media), so he's worse than useless to her.
