Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Does someone have a link to todays press conference, I cant find anything on it.
quote from his "speech" today:

Joe Biden is asked why he sounds so sick: "I have a 1 & 1/2-year-old grandson who has a cold who likes to kiss his pop. He'd be kissing my, anyway...But it’s just a cold."

What in the name of Hell was he about to say?
Only God knows. I hope that was his dementia brain phrasing shit wrong instead of his dementia brain almost announcing on live TV he molests his grandchildren.

I don't remember shut downs hurting the Republicans.

Then you were too busy playing X-Box and not actually paying attention to the world around you then buddy.

GOP driven government shutdowns did hurt the GOP big time during the Clinton and Obama years. Newt completely fucked up the shutdown optics (making it seem like he shut down the government because Clinton wouldn't give him a decent seat on Air Force One) in 1995 and allowed Clinton and the media to paint the GOP as petty shits. Bob Dole in particular, NEVER forgave Newt Gingrich for the shutdown. Dole believes the GOP had a decent shot to beat Bill in 1996 after the trouncing Democrats received losing control over both branches of Congress. But then Newt came along and shut down the government over petty seating arrangement issues and the public turned back to the Democrats as "the adults in the room.

Similarly, the shutdown during the Obama administration had even WORSE optics as the GOP didn't even hide the fact that they were doing it for spite and malice to punish people for the sin of voting in Obama. If you want to know WHY Ted Cruz is such a bette noir for the left and why moderates and undecided folk actively CHEERED Donald Trump buck breaking Cruz to his will? The shutdown is why.

Government shutdowns are like invading Russia in the winter. You never fucking do it if you are a conservative minded person.

Some positive news out of Virginia today.

During the Virginia elections last month, one House of Delegates*** seat - in Virginia Beach - had the incumbent Democrat lose to the Republican candidate by 127 votes. The Democrat demanded a recount, so three Circuit Court judges convened, went over the contested ballots and ruled that the Republican indeed won. This confirms that they'll now have a majority in the House along with a Republican governor and AG. There is another recount ongoing in Hampton, where the incumbent Democrat lost to the Republican by 98 votes. If that one goes in Republican's favor it'll be 52-48.

Only God knows. I hope that was his dementia brain phrasing shit wrong instead of his dementia brain almost announcing on live TV he molests his grandchildren.
Edited the video to cut out the dead air.

I like this deeper sick voice Biden has.

I was a Democrat during the Obama years and hated the GOP for being a bunch of retards at the time out of partisanship. The reason I said that was because the GOP went on to win the 2014 midterms, which is why I was wondering how the shutdowns hurt them.

Burnout, money, concern drive Harris turnover

(archive)
Burnout, better opportunities and concern about being permanently branded a "Harris person" is driving some of the turnover in Vice President Kamala Harris's office, people familiar with the situation tell Axios.

Why it matters: Harris is not only a heartbeat from the presidency but, by virtue of her office, the presumed 2024 frontrunner if President Biden doesn't seek re-election. There's been an inordinate amount of disarray — and, now, turnover — throughout her tenure.
  • Her allies say she has a terrific chance to reset and downplay the early stumbles. But top Biden officials privately roll their eyes at her team, and want to see smoother, more effective leadership.
Harris needs "someone loyal, who can think methodically to best position the vice president and to make sure everything she’s doing is being maximized and communicated to a broad population and get her numbers up," one Democratic strategist — who requested anonymity to speak frankly — told Axios.
  • Another Democratic operative close to the vice president's office, also requesting anonymity to speak freely, said the departures add pressure to Harris' chief of staff, Tina Flournoy, to avoid an internal collapse and external criticism.
  • "If we mess this up, it's going to set women back when it comes to running for higher office for years to come," the operative told Axios.
Between the lines: Harris has been under constant political and management scrutiny since she became the first Democrat to end their 2020 campaign — a shock after her massive launch rally.
  • Since taking office, Republicans have attacked her for failing to visit the southern border despite having an immigration portfolio, and rumblings about her management style have been fueled by staff turnover.
  • On Wednesday, chief spokesperson Symone Sanders announced her departure at the end of the month. Previously, communications director Ashley Etienne also said she was resigning.
  • Sanders and Etienne did not provide comment for the record.
When asked about Sanders' decision to leave, Harris told reporters Thursday, "I love Symone."
  • “I can’t wait to see what she will do next. I know that it’s been three years jumping on and off planes going around the country and she works very hard, and I can't wait to see what she'll do next," she added. "I mean that sincerely."
Those close to the vice president's operation tell Axios some of the turnover is natural: the team is exhausted after a busy first year in office, especially coming off a presidential campaign and busy transition.
  • That's the case for Sanders, and Etienne came to Harris's office after a similarly high-pressure job with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. White House press secretary Jen Psaki has said she expects to serve in her job only for a year, too.
  • Part of the turnover also is driven by an interest in financial security, as well as a personal life.
Sanders is expected to get married next year, and her first book, "No, You Shut Up," was published in May 2020 — in the middle of the presidential campaign and during a global pandemic, so she hasn't been able to do a traditional book tour or sell her book in a concerted way.
  • "She came in to be a service to this country, and here's a woman who has her own brand and her own book that just came out," said Glynda Carr, president and CEO of Higher Heights for America, a Democratic PAC dedicated to electing more Black women in office.
One recurring theme, though, is concern — even fear — about career harm by being too closely linked to a flagging operation.
  • Axios is told some Harris staffers want to work on Biden's reelection campaign, while others don't want to be aligned with Harris in the event another promising Democrat runs for president in 2024.
  • A Democrative operative pushed back, noting Harris is the second-in-command.
  • The operative also said Harris staffers don’t think anything about working with her would present a problem for them in future cycles.
Concerns about Harris' operation and treatment by the media triggered a meeting last summer between the Vice President and some of the Democratic Party's most influential women.
  • They discussed how to defend her and chart a positive agenda.
  • White House officials, including chief of staff Ron Klain and presidential adviser Cedric Richmond, also have stepped up to her defense.

Any word on how Joe will respond to the Ukraine/Russia tensions? Are we getting WW3 for Christmas?
Probably not war because it doesn't fit with Russia's behavior. Most of the units Russia placed on the border with Ukraine back in March-April never left, If they really wanted to invade they would've just done it. The question of 'what exactly does Russia want?' is murky to say the least but Putin is probably using the same tactics Kim does with his nukes. He wants to use that strongman image he has to deter the US/NATO from doing certain things with Ukraine.

Hagerty (R-TN) and Thune (R-SD).

Both RINOs, Hagerty had a large part in Trump's transition team.... and more than a little part in picking the Establishment rot that entered it. And Thune is... well, Thune.
Thune is just McConnell's successor should they (GOPe) take back the Senate.

Just another ineffectual, uninspiring, Big Oil stained glass window in the Cathedral.

Even if everyone magically got the vaccine and every anti-vaxer disappeared, they're not gonna stop the authoritarian shit. They'll just move the goalpost. Add another booster shot and "effective immediately" everyone who doesn't have it is unvaxed.

Bob Dole lost because he was an elderly relic with no message other than whining about young Boomers, running for office against the first Democrat to enjoy a good economy since 1964, at a time when the Democrats had decided to stop whining and crying about how capitalism is bad and the USSR is cool. Mitt Romney wasn't much different, other than not being a crumbling old person. Dole blamed the shutdown because it was a way to pin the GOP's self-made defeat on those stupid conservative troglodytes who handed the House to the Republicans for the first time in 40 years. Same with Romney's defeat. Republicans are forever trying to ride some corporatist douche into the White House on the coattails of the success of conservative populism, and their skin-of-the-teeth victories with Bush in '00 and '04 convinced them this is a forevergood strategy. They're already talking about running some gormless retard that the base will hate in 2024, I guarantee it. If we BTFO the Democrats in 2022, they're probably nominate Paul Ryan or someone like that.

Oh come on.
You expected weebs to not lust over Corona-chan?
There are no words to describe the level of unconstitutionality there. If anything could take down the endless expansion of the Commerce Clause, it would be a ruling on that.
one is definitely not armed anymore
Sadly, it healed up pretty nicely. Miracles of modern medicine, and all that.
