Was this before or after the eating disorder that necessitated spending hundreds of dollars a week on formula?
A lot of this sounds like horseshit to me. IDK how it is in the US, but here in the UK they’re always looking for people of different backgrounds because, basically, you get a lot of kids from different backgrounds.
Mind you, a lot of these restrictions make perfect sense.
- I wouldn’t let an illegal immigrant adopt because it’s not right to potentially either re-orphan the child or send them to another country.
- Former addict? Well, having a kid is a stressful situation, so there’s a high risk of them relapsing.
- Poly relationships are always a complete mess. It’s not fair to put a kid in an unstable domestic situation. And given what fuckups poly people usually are, there’s a >90% chance the kid would be used as a pawn in their ego games.
- Not having the right number of bedrooms? Yeah. If you have a one-bed apartment, you shouldn’t be bringing a kid into it. Kids need space.
Ultimately, what this demonstrates is that Becky sees a kid as an accessory, not a person. It’s about what the parent wants, not what the child needs.
The only amazing thing would be the bestselling tell-all autobiography that kid could write in later life.

The best part about owning a child is taking the time once per year to disassemble the kid, clean out the insides, and then pose for Twitter pictures with the pieces. Then you can eat a whole bag of weed gummies and take a nap while your spouses put the baby back together and place it back on the shelf with all of the other toys you had to own but don't enjoy.

No, Becky, I don't believe you. Mami & Papi are fairly wealthy, religious, and happily married. There's no way they were turned down by adoption agencies to such an extent that they had to resort to some shady "under the table" deal to adopt you.
Every day I pray for a time machine so we can prevent this spoiled cunt from getting adopted in the first place.

Also, the first three I can see as being factors in not letting a child be adopted, though the fact that the fake husband is the non-US citizen kind of cancels them out. But other than that Daniel's first language is German and Becky performatively drops Spanish into sentences because she's Totes Latinx, bull fucking shit that they're not a solely English-speaking household or that it would be a factor in not letting you adopt. And if she claims they speak Hebrew around the house I will laugh and laugh.
Oddly enough, I can believe that Mami and Papi were denied a child from one specific agency due to previous cancer - I can see that being a factor (what if a primary carer dies and you can't afford to look after the child anymore?), and I don't think Becky's ever milked one of her parents having survived cancer much, if at all, before. But even then she tells on herself, because by announcing she's being serious about that one fact suggests the deeper truth, which is that 95% of her Twitter is lies and fairy-tales. Including everything else she has to say immediately above it.
If the child survived. Which is much less likely than it should be.

In fairness, the video is genuinely very interesting. It'd be a good one to listen to while you do chores, as the only thing you'd maybe want to actually see is a brief part with charts and stuff.

To Defunctland's credit, their videos are well-researched and entertaining. I'd recommend their videos on Action Park (filled with rides that injured hundreds and killed several people), and the teen dance club at Disney in the 80s that went to court to prevent same-sex dancing.
This is doubly hilarious considering that not only is Becky the epitome of a spoiled Capitalist pig that would be first against the wall, but that she was raised by Cuban refugees that FLED from a Communist regime to a Capitalist one for a better life. Mami would faint if she read that Tweet.

IDK, to me this all seems like Becky derailing the conversation (and peacocking as an "expert").
I imagine when 99% of people talk about preserving games, they mean being able to play them even if old game consoles become unavailable or online servers get shut down. But according to Becky, Titanfall fans shouldn't complain about the game not being preserved since the game's source code is presumably stored somewhere in Respawn HQ... you see, wanting to actually PLAY the game or have an open source version of the code is an ""accessibility"" issue, not a ""preservation"" issue! These are totally different!
Maybe I'm just dumb, but this kind of "game archival" work sounds pretty... pointless?
She basically works on an internal lore wiki (which is almost certainly far worse than the publicly-available fan wikis) and she maintains an index/backup of official press releases, advertisements, and other media put out by Respawn. In the future, she wants to download some YT videos of people playing Titanfall/Apex Legends and add those to her Very Important Archive™.
My understanding of what Bex and the other guys job is working on preserving lore/ player character story - it's more like recording the framing narrative that keeps players investing via world building or lore. It doesn't really add to gameplay but I guess it adds to player appeal? They might also make sure version records are kept consistent or back up older versions of the game for the company archive too.
Archiving can matter in certain cases, a lot of devs back in the 80's and 90's didn't really have those practices so you have stories like how Taito lost the original source code to many of their original games because (even though titles like Space Invaders and Bubble Bobble were AAA titles of their day) - they didn't think it would matter enough to archive at the time. Granted that doesn't sound like the kind of archiving Bex is doing really - as you said it sounds like she's mostly just working on the wiki.
But generally for a lot of online games, in some cases people can hack the client to make private servers so it's playable again. But it depends how much is available via the game client to allow recreation of the game and a player community passionate enough with skilled fans to bring back something of the game. But in general preserving a game with internet connectivity is always going to be a lot more difficult as the company involved isn't going to be interested in doing anything post-closure with the title and people have to then figure out how the game was built and then how they make things work again (if it's even possible)
Also Defunctland is pretty good if you like PBS shows and Theme Park history, it is clear they lean a certain way politically (nothing new in this day and age) but the Fastpass video is more about how a system that did once actually improve evening out crowds around the parks has now become a millstone around their neck thanks to execs trying to fix things that were not broken. I'm not sure how Bex came to the conclusion they had when really no Fastpass on Defunctland's model worked out better for anyone who didn't want to ride the super popular rides in the parks.

I hate admitting this, but what she’s saying is partially true. If you want to adopt a newborn in the US, you are pretty much limited to private adoptions — and the vast majority of private adoption agencies are run by religious organizations. Being privately run also means they can discriminate against applicants for bullshit reasons. Prior illness, being single, being gay, being interracial and not being religious are all reasons people get rejected.
If you go through the public system, you won’t always get a baby (they’re rarely in the foster system and don’t last long if they do get placed) but they can’t discriminate based on race, sex, religion etc. (But lots of people can’t deal with the baggage a foster to adopt situation brings, and that’s another thread entirely.)

Basically confirmed - Becky jumped into a random Twitter spat about Zionism (I think this thread is part of it) and tried to make it all about herself. The people involved didn't take kindly to some weird rando interrupting their argument, so poor Becky flounced off and privated her account + deleted some tweets.
